How did he abolish privacy? People can share as much or as little as they like.

Wow,
You're kidding right? HE decides what you want, whether you "think" it's private or not Please start doing some research

What is this Facebook you talk of?
Has anyone else noticed the lack of effort some of your longtime friends put into real life relationships? At least they know what their other 300 friends are doing such as what television they just bought or what they had for lunch..blah blah blah blah. I'm sure there are some good points to it but it just seems as if it's furthering the trend in pushing people deeper into the unreal reality that seems to be becoming a normal state of being for so many people. People who are neighbors don't even know each other in most cases and everyone is just sooooooo busy... doing what? watching TV and updating their facebook status or reading others. OOOOOOk I'm no longer amazed at the reactions I get from people when they find out I'm not on facebook and do not own a television. The look of disbelief and then occasional compassion as they offer me their extra television or aging computer to deliver me from poverty. I get a good laugh every time. Priceless. This post is not intended to offend, it's just an observation from my point of view. |

I assume that anything I put online is public. Therefore, anything I don't want public, I keep of of facebook. It's not that hard.
It might be hard to control which info that you post gets pushes to your friends, but if you choose the privacy settings correctly, they can be the only ones who can even see that you exist. |

All of these opinions are coming from someone who barely uses their facebook account and has considered deleting it because it has hardly relevant to my friends and I anymore

As hackers become more sophisticated and more prevalent, NOTHING you post on ANY networking site should be considered secure...no matter what you "privacy" settings are.

A couple of nights ago an interviewer on NPR asked why Twitter was worth $1 billion or whatever its worth. The answer was that is how much investors have put into it. They have collectively paid that much for it, so that's what it's worth. The answer to how they make their money was a little vague. It's something about being able to reach millions of people. I guess by "reach" they mean put advertising in front of.
I assume it's the same for facebook.

Am I the only one seeing the bazillion ads plastered all over FB?
Same as our "free" email? I too am thinking of losing my FB... think it has jumped the shark.

"Have you ever hooked up with an old GF from Facebook?"
YUP in a "FRIENDLY" way. Long since married with kids now. FB is a good way to hook up with people from your past.
