Anyone else receive debt collections calls when you don't owe money?

No. Never. Funny thing is I have a fairly common name. Wife's name is even more common.

The wife and I use our cell phones almost exclusively. We live in TX and they are NY area codes.

The only reason I have a home phone is the local number for the alarm monitoring, kids school to call and the wife's work.

Otherwise we don't answer it unless it's a number we recognize.

Easily 80% are the local sheriff/firemen charities that are pure BS or some other charity that is not banned by the do not call list.

Every once in a while, I'll get a call about my first wife. Appearently there was a judgement against her in the $25K region, many years ago. I expect the debt is being passed around.

One of these calls came in and my wife took the call. She called me at work and said "I just got a call, Mary is Dead. Here is the number."

I called...collection agency. It was about "Mary's Debt", not "Marys dead".

We still get a few calls, once in a while...

I get calls looking for my exwifes first husband. I try to be helpfull. I give his home address, phone number, work number and parents numbers. It is funny. he barely says hi when I run into him. The ones who call for the ex wife, I try to help too. Cant remeber last time i owed anyone money and didnt pay.

Yeah, a bum married into the family 8-10 years ago....for 4 months (please, don't ask). Just got a phone call this morning about the POS.
