Unless you're spending $200K for an undergraduate English degree ;)

That is an interesting assumption. And one that is getting less and less true, it seems to me.

Maybe he should ask Suze Orman? :)

jeffgrant 12-30-2010 10:06 AM

Tom Vu, all the way baby.

"You too can finance your MacBook Pro, with no money down."

does Tom Vu's method involve buying lots of Apple stock and then encouraging every teenager that he NEEDS the CAPITAL INVESTMENT of a MacBook pro? --just wonder'n.

This thread is hilarious.

Reach for it, Sid.

Actually, Apple was the first stock I bought in the early 90's. Sold a lot of it to buy XServes and XRaids, but that's a whole other story.

Wish I kept more of it than I did, that's for sure.

I was thinking of Sid, who plans to go to pharmacy school. Definitely not an english major.;) With the right degree it is absolutely worthwhile, I've never regretted my Aerospace Engineering degree.

jeffgrant 12-30-2010 10:44 AM

Totally agree. I'm also quite happy with my achievements, albeit in computer engineering.

I was making a comment on that statement as it applies to the general context, not Sid in particular.

onewhippedpuppy 12-30-2010 10:49 AM

Different topic, different thread (from last week). But I totally agree, I know plenty of degreed folks that make less than your average tradesman.

techweenie 12-30-2010 10:52 AM

I live in that world and I can assure you, it's a valuable skillset to know video.

jeffgrant 12-30-2010 10:52 AM

Wait... this thread has a topic?

My bad.

What I'd do:

1) Get the credit card.

2) Save up for "a few months" for enough to pay cash for the Mac.

3) Then use the credit card to buy the Mac.

In the world. Period. Welcome to the rich media generation.

onewhippedpuppy 12-30-2010 11:16 AM

Sid, please get back to us when you submit a moon-walking pill man in one of your classes.:D

GH85Carrera 12-30-2010 11:20 AM

That pill dancing man music is horrible.

GH85Carrera 12-30-2010 11:22 AM

Hey this thread has gone on for a lot longer than I ever dreamed.

If we all work at it we can make another Stijin! thread.
