Losing my memory.

I can't remmember if I've asked this question before (joke) but I'm losing my memory.

It was fine until about six months ago and now I occassionally can't remember which kitchen cupboard something is in, or I can't find the "r" key on the computer. Really weird chit. And sometimes I have to think REALLY hard as to where I've left the car. A lot of old git stuff like I can't remember what I've already told people.

A friend said omega 3 oils and some trace elements (Gawd, I can't remember which) can help. He said it's not Alzheimers, it's just related to getting older. Hell I'm only 51. Another idea is to really work the brain such as learning a new language

Any suggestions? Jokes and teasing is also gratefully accepted.

Don't you remember what I told you the last time you asked?

I'm 46 and it's been getting worse over the last couple of years.

Started on fish oil but I hear Flackseed is better. Also trying mental stimuli, playing a lot of solitaire.

If you forget about forgetting, does that solve the problem?

Bill, what kind(s) of medications are you on??? If you are on some, check the side effects. I was on Vytorin for quite a while. After a couple of years, I developed the muscle pain as a side effect and had to change to something else. I had noticed one of Vytorin's side effects was the it "affected the memory." While on it, I didn't think much about it, but I was really getting absent minded and forgot things like you described. I was wondering if I was going senile, and my wife kept asking if I was confused. After I quit that medication, I noticed a huge change for the better. When I originally read about it affecting the memory, I thought it was talking about some very small changes. Those changes were really dramatic though.

+1 on the meds. If not on any meds, have a talk with a doc. There may be something that can be done for you.

Thanks for the advice (and humour). I'm not on any med's to speak of. Just stuff called Lyprinol which is an oil derived from shelfish (green lipped muscles) that helps arthritus. I don't drink and definetly don't smoke any dope. My GF said I'm just more relaxed than usual so I'm forgetting things that don't seem important but it's definetly much more than that.

I have this problem as well, but it usually only manifests itself after about 15 bong hits.

I would see my GP and have him recommend a specialist and see that specialist ASAP. This isn't something to joke about. If you check out okay, no problem, but there are a lot of serious causes for memory loss.

Thanks I'll do that. I have been a tiny bit vague also. Not bad, but a bit slow to catch on to what people are saying occassionally.

Sounds to me like you're perfectly normal.

And you know what they say. . . .the memory is the second thing to go.

Any other health issues?
Are you under stress (finances, relationships, uncertain future...)?
Any major changes in lifestyle like amount of sleep, what you eat...?

Yes, but as the man on the TV says, there is something I can take for that.

No more stress than usual. And that's not big amounts anyway. Sleep, eats and other habits are the same. The memory bits that go are like chunks of what has happened over the last few days or weeks. Something like no reloclection what so ever of a conversation with someone. But something good or exciting I can remmember every detail with clarity.

The older I get, the less I remember the late 60's and early 70's...
