Ding, ding, ding.....yup.
The 110 AC power converted to DC have a provision for charging the battery. This lead hangs down from the ceiling and shows 15v. I figure running an extension up front to the battery with a fuse in the positive side will take care of my problem. Funny, the polarity is opposite the battery tender lead I have...... Thanks for the quick response. Can you think of any problem with what I am attempting to do?

I'm not sure what you are attempting to do, but all powered pins coming from the source should be shielded by theconnector housing(in this case there's only one). The negative is exposed. That way you can't short-circuit if the open connector touches anything conductive. In the case of a battery charger, the positive pin is shielded coming from the battery, and is exposed coming from the charger.

Yep....- should be exposed. The wiring is bassackwards on the trailer connector. I'll fix that too.
What I want to do..... The tent trailer has 110V AC coming into a converter and powers the 110 outlets. The converter does its job and changes AC to DC to power the lights. In a perfect world, that DC should also charge the battery sitting up front next to the propane tank. It doesn't.... A multimeter shows no change at the battery terminals when the 110 converted to DC is hooked up. It also shows no change when the tow vehicle is plugged into the lighting circuit of the trailer. Hence the battery can discharge from use. I have a battery charger that I can take with me, a DC to AC converter in the truck........just trying to get an easy way to keep the trailer battery from going flat from use.

![]() Further searching, the ground pin is broken off.....the left plug (not the actual plug, stock pic off of the net) connects to the trailer. Needs to be fixed obviously....would this be the cause of the non charging of the battery between the tow vehicle and the trailer battery? I have 12V when I test the pins on the trailer where this plugs into.....

How many pins are on the connector that plugs into the tow vehicle?

It goes from the square 6 pin to a round six to a LARGE GMC style round six.
The signals, brakes and running light work.....but I think there is an wiring issue for the charging circuit. This pic is of the side and the next pic is the end, it plugs into ![]() ![]() The back of this, ![]() Which has this one the end, ![]() Which plugs into the male GMC plug on my Yukon. ![]()

That's actually a 6-pin round going into a 6-pin to 7-pin adapter then plugging into your tow vehicle. IIRC, the 6-pin rectangular is unique to Jayco and I believe it was mounted through a hole in the tougue. With that setup, you should be able to charge your battery. I'd see where the wire from the broken pin leads to on the trailer.

I fixed the ground and plugged it in....got smoke. I should know better, but I was smart enough to fuse it.
Looking at this, Trailer Wiring Diagram For 4 Way, 5 Way, 6 Way and 7 Way circuits it shows some compatibility issues. The "ground" I fixed was a ground on the trailer but with all the adapters ended up being a 12v connection..... This thing needs to be re wired or snip the "fixed" lead off and just deal with the no charge issue. Too many adapters and too cold right now to screw with......gonna take the ribs off the slow cooker and get ready for Supper.

It turns out the round 6 pin is wired incorrectly. I'm swapping wires, will test tomorrow.

Can you swap out your 6 pin male end for a plug that allows you do plug it directly into your 7 pin female receptcle? Might make it easier.

Probably but I was able trace all the wires and figure out the problem.
![]() The bottom should read running lights. There is no provision for back up lights and is unused..... As you can see, the wiring colors are all over the planet. Thanks to my Fluke I was able to figure it all out. I'll plug her in tomorrow. Confidence is High....
