Unless it's feezing asz cold we will go to the beach, Doheney, have a fire, drink champaign, eat little fish eggs, crackers, creme cheese, and watch the sun go down. Come home by 7 or so. Get off the streets early.

Catching my canceled/rescheduled flight home to Phoenix, having dinner in the Charlotte airport on the way there, might be home in time to ring in the New Year. I hate winter weather.

Oil Balls for me.

A friend from Holland invited me to a traditional Dutch New Years Eve party. It involves something called Oliebollen.

From Wikipedia:
An oliebol is a traditional Dutch food. Oliebollen (literally oil balls) are traditionally eaten on New Year's Eve and at funfairs. A Dutch person eats on average eight oliebollen on new years eve. They are also called smoutebollen (literally lard balls) in Belgium. Sometimes it is referenced in English as Dutch donut.

For the life of me I can't understand why a culture that enjoys public nudity, prostitution, and sales of mind altering drugs on a daily basis would spend New Years Eve sitting around eating donuts.

Not a good idea to be on the road on amateur night.

Some Scotch, a handful of cigars and a ton of fireworks. All enjoyed on the beach. I'll probably shoot some of the fireworks off in the direction of PI, I just might be able to get 'em riled up enough to send out a welcome party.

Ahhh, sorry. Marine Corps Recruit Depot (god, that term is just awesome 'need more lumber? head down to home depot' 'need more killers? head down to PI') Parris Island is just across the sound from the beach outside my house. If you shoot enough fireworks off and in the proper direction, they send out a chopper.

At home, maybe go to bed early, maybe work on the p-car or one of my other projects.

A peaceful night at home getting things done is infinitely preferable to anything involving crowds of stupid drunken people.

Working probably half day and then home. We prefer to stay home. Pretty boring but we like it.

In bed asleep before midnight as usual. I have not stayed up to "see in the new year" since 2000. I only stayed up to watch the world melt down form Y2K and nothing happened.

We're going to friends' house for drinks, a lobster dinner, some more drinks, a few more drinks, drunken debauchery, a dip in the hot tub at midnight, some more drinks, and to bed whenever. Breakfast there tomorrow am, and home when the pounding in my head subsides, after a few bloody marys. Did I mention we have fun friends?

It's great, I can consolidate two hangovers into one. Until midnight, it's New Years Eve party, and after midnight it's my birthday party.
