Look at what we pay for a 'Bullitt' here in Oz......
2009 FORD MUSTANG BULLITT Private Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au |
I enjoy reading Paul's posts, in a sadistic sort of way.
This is OFF TOPIC after all, if you don't like what's posted, DON"T READ IT. sorry Sid that you are getting blamed, but i do still assert that a well setup 944 would beat a 'stang in the twisties - not the 1/4 mile, as the 944 is a dog off the line, but it's made for the twisties, the 'stang is a 1/4 miler. |
Well prepared 944s can power slide too:p

We have gone through this before, but Ima do it again just in case anyone wants the entertainment.
2008 Bullitt Mustang specs, per Inside Line: 315HP, Curb weight, as tested 3,531 lbs. Current market used price: about $22-23K from what I gather in a few internet searches. lbs per horsepower: 11.2 1989 944 Turbo - 247 HP stock, curb weight roughly 3,000 lbs dripping wet, with options. Current market used price: about $9-10K. lbs per horsepower: 12.15 Now we have another 12K$ to spend. Lets say we dump about 5K$ at a reputable shop with some Lindsey parts and we come out the other side with an easy 320HP, 9.375 lbs per horsepower, and 7K$ in the bank. The Mustang has mods obviously as well, but regardless you already spent 22K$, 7K$ more than a fire breathing 951. Those who knock on mildly modded 951's haven't driven the amazement-per-dollar that is that car. And yes, I've been behind the wheel of a Mustang. And not a pansy 340 horse one... but one with around 400, with a hot cam, headers, and a professional tune; a car, at that time, worth around 35$K. Again, lots of money for not as much go. |
^^ save that 7K and in 2 years you can buy an '08 Bullitt ^^ :D

I don't get it. If Pauls post about mustangs bug any of you so much, why read them? They don't bother me at all, in fact I enjoy them. For guys who profess to be CAR guys, there are lots of snobs around here.
Paul likes to talk about mustangs, If you don't, move along..... |

I don't consider it snobby- it's car talk. we are talking cars.
And specifically, I'm talking about how a 951 can be just as good or better than his Bullitt. I like to talk about 951's just like he likes to talk about Mustangs. If he brings the topic up hes asking for it. In fact, I dare Paul to challenge yours truly to a battle of who knows their car better- and I'm not talking owners manual specs. I'm talking nuts and bolts i.e. what wrench size does it take to remove the god damned bellhousing bolts... my kind of battle. I'll cover 924's, 944's, 951's, 968's across all years. He just has to cover his single model year and trim level. |
One of the common Paul complaints about his Porsche was the need to take it out of town for repair, which is apparently the fault of Porsche for not building a dealership next to his house. I don't think he's much of a DIY guy.
|
Schumi even has created his own method of clutch replacement (Worked great, thanks Schumi!)
So Paul, what size bolt heads hold on the bell housing on the 'stang? |

All that being said. It is fun ruining someones day that thinks because his car is a new or fast car you shouldn't be able to hang with him. I like doing that to guys on motorcycles too. Nothing like the look a guy gives you when he's just tried to shake you on a nice twisty piece of pavement on his new sportbike and then he sees your riding two-up on a sport touring bikehttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/lol2.gif priceless |

If Paul is derailing someone elses thread, maybe I can understand. but onewhippedpuppy you are getting pissed and your in a thread that he started. How bout this. If he or his topics bother you so much, when you see his name as the thread starter, don't open it....I've used that tactic here for several people I can't stand. I've found I'm much less annoyed these days. |

Don't have a siren on the FJR, GSXR750's or Ducati. Never ride two-up on the BMW. But regardless of what I'm riding, I always ride with my lights on. ;) |
I like Mustangs just fine. I like a lot of cars, (and trucks), for what they are. I don't assign a whole lot of weight to what others think of my car or whether some stranger dissed me over a parking spot 20 years ago but hey, that's just me.
I just saw some amazing footage of Jim Morrison driving his '67 or '68 Shelby GT 500 on the Doors documentary, "When You're Strange..." It was shot on 35MM for a film that was never released or seen until this year, I thought it was a re-enactment with an actor until my friend who produced it told me the real story. Now I have to watch it again, just for that. He's winding the piss out of it in the middle of the desert, maybe AZ.(?) Looks like it was shot yesterday. The car will make any true gear head drool. A new GT 500 running on leaded premium w/ the lizard king stirring the gears. Amazing.... |
