And rich people... what are tickets now?

Sorry, I miss old Vegas when shows were under $50

Red Rock, Hoover Dam, Rhyolite Ghost Town, Death Valley ( technically Cali.) Grand Canyon by air. Fremont street Experience ( the old strip) light show at night. New York, NY. The original London Bridge in Laughlin, NV it's quite a drive though. Three state border Utah, Arizona, Nevada again quite a ride to get to but you are nearly half way at Hoover dam.

Freemenot street and NY, NY may hurt your childs ears though.

Then leave nothing else there.

Swing by The Gun Store and rent a machine gun.

You are going to a Tastee Freez convention, why would you want to leave that slice of heaven?

I took my NV CCW class there and they had a two hour wait to get on the range. They had at least 10 taxis lined up out front like it was a hotel. Luckily, we were in a bldg. nextdoor and didn't have to do range quals until all the tourists left after closing. Those machine gun rentals run around $1 PER ROUND. You can easily blow through $500 in a few minutes.

On Oakely (N side of street, near the Stratosphere) just about 150 ft east of Las Vegas Blvd there is a Custard shop (Ice Cream) that has bin in biz since 67...he does 2 flavors a day and is closed on Sun Mon...to absolutely die for.

The Sundaes will blow you and your waist line away.

Walk in here...place a stack of hundreds on a table, announcing: "I'll give anyone the 8 in a race to 11". You'll draw some attention...:D

Tabby, you ever checked this place out?

My folks used to live there, and about 3 years ago when visiting with my wife and then-3yo son we saw a Zappos shoe outlet in a little strip mall just south of the main strip. Of course my wife wants to stop at the shoe outlet, so while we're pulling around the shops I see a Bugatti Veyron! Then, I see another! Then, I notice that immediately next door is Lamborghini Las Vegas, and holy crap they had a Ferrari Enzo, Maserati MC12, another Veyron, a Spyker, and about 80 lambos packed in the back showroom. Also a sweet Miura and some vintage racing bikes in the back. Your wife will love you when you offer to take her to a shoe outlet. Then, just quietly slip next door (seriously, it's right next door) with your son and admire the machinery.

Not sure if it is still the case, but the way to do it when I was there was to take at least 2 people and share. At the time you paid a rental fee for the gun, and it came with 2 magazines, and 2 additional magazines were a few bucks more. When we went, I rented the Thompson, and my friend rented a MP40 and we both got the extra ammo. We shared the guns, and both got 2 magazines in each gun.

I don't remember the exact total, but I think it ended up about $60 each. This was 8 years ago though.

I was there two mos. ago. It's insanely expensive and crowded now.

Free stuff: Bellagio water dance. Mirage volcano. Treasure island pirates. Nice trompe l'oeil in Caesar's Forum shops & Venetian Shops upstairs. Fremont Street Experience downtown. Red Rock or the much more incredible Valley of Fire which is further out.

I hate Vegas but I am typing this from my room in the Mirage . . .

Ian

Valley of Fire is about 40 min. outside Vegas on I-15 toward Salt Lake City.

imcarthur 01-06-2011 04:07 PM

There was a chemical spill on the strip in front of the Win this morning. They shut the Strip & it took our guys 1 1/2 hours to get from the Mirage to the Convention Center.

Ian

Sent you a PM Joe.
