One of the best shorts I've ever seen.

Many thanks....My uncle Gordon was a B-17 pilot. I'm sure he appreciated his "little friends"...

Thanks for the link. Great film and I have to say I got a little choked up. I have always been a mustang fan and have gotten to ride in one about 12 years ago, which was a tremendous experience.

Very cool, patient of mine that passed last year trained guys to fly those things.

That P-51 is about the best looking plane I ever saw.

Not sure when I first saw it but it is really great and very moving. I know some of these guys who flew P-51's. Very much like the fellow in the movie.

Quiet heros.

Great film. They just don't make them like that any longer and I'm not speaking of the Mustang.

I have had the honor of having four uncles that were in WWII and knowing several WWII flight men in my home town. One guy was the bombardier on a B29 and spent 3 years as a POW. sadly all of my uncles and he have passed over the last five or so years. They truly are "The Greatest Generation".

About 10 years ago I had the additional honor of meeting Paul Tibbets the pilot of the Enola Gay. I was able to get a photo with him and get it autographed. I treasure the photoo. He had much the same demeanor as Mr. Brooks. Soft spoken, humble and an attitude of "that was my job I didn't question it, I just did it."

Thank you to all who serve and have served our country in the military.

My parents are in their 80's and dad flew a P-47... growing up there was a nice neighbor lady their age that let us play on the trampoline in her back yard.

Having dinner with them a few months ago and they were reminiscing about the good old days in Gardena CA... someone asked Donna what she was working on back in the day... "oh I build the air scoops for the p-51"

She went on to tell of meeting a bomber pilot after the war who thanked her.

I was speechless...

Thank you for posting.

I have always been a fan of the 51 and the other outstanding aircraft of the age.
They will be with us long after men of the caliber of their pilots have left us.

I mentioned here before a number of years ago, I had encountered a chap with a license plate "SPIT IX" on his car and inquired. He confirmed that it referred to the aircraft he flew in Europe and was kind enough to tell me a bit of what it was like.

In late 2009, I was in the home of a lady who had been recently widowed. Her home still had the aircraft models her husband had built and painted. Prompted by the models, I told her the story about meeting the gentleman some years before who had been so kind as to share some of his memories with me.

"That was my husband" she told me. She was pleased that I had memories of this man she had shared most of her life with and brought out the plate to show me.

Honor these men now when you get a chance.

Les

I have a box of Kleenex here on my desk for this kind of thing. I got misty before the opening credits, then throughout the video.

Great video. Thought it was very touching but I'd be in the clear until "February" pulled up along side him w/ his grandson inside. That caliber of person really makes you stop and wonder, "what the hell happened to patriotism and the love for one's country."
