Yes, they are but the Swallow is migratory.

The Swallow does have a compass. Also some (the French) have even went as far as to suggest that a Swallow can carry a coconut.

I have had many opportunities to observe bats by my lake going after mosquitos. Absolutely amazing their ability to (a) sense and (b) turn on a pin head. Amazing and wonderful creatures.
