Knocked Myself Out

That was an interesting experience.

Coming back into the office with a cup of coffee. Held the door for someone, pivoted, slipped on the wet floor - damn rain + leather soles - fell, struck the back of my head.

Was laying face-up on the floor - saw and heard a guy bending over me - heard buzzing - couldn't move or talk for awhile. Eventually got up and went to a chair, was seen by some paramedics, I could recall the day, date, my phone number, etc, signed the decline hospitalization form, got a refill for my spilt coffee, and am back at my desk.

Think I'll go back to rubber-soled shoes.

First time I've been knocked out - or at least, knocked immobile - for 20 years.

I think I've been knocked out three times. Bicycle crash, household mishap, and now this.

Ouch! I think a visit to the doctor is a good idea as well. I am glad you didn't crack your skull.

What? It rains in Portland?

Seriously, you might want to get checked out. Even the NFL takes concussions seriously these days.

Unfortunately, the night before I put my mom on an airplane, we learned that a close friend's daughter, toddler son, and young BF were stranded in PDX due to weather and flight cxl's on the East Coast. They are trying to get back to Virginia (?) where they live. She is ex-Navy, he is a Marine (? not sure- just met him ?). So now we have more houseguests. It never ends. So I'm in the office doing vewwy important work.

I'm no doctor, but if you have even the slightest head ache, I'd get an MRI. It sucks to have the wallet lighter by a few hundred bucks but it sucks more to be dead.

Just because you were able to answer the questions correctly doea not mean you are in the clear.
I do not know the protocols in that area but here, + loc=hospital and some observation and tests.
Nuttin to fool with.

this is always a good idea ANY time you lose consciousness from trauma

you have health insurance, right?

one particular thing to watch for is any sort of headache in the next few days, but I'd go see an MD ASAP

THIS is your IQ test. If you don't get seen by a doctor, you fail. Don't mess around with a head injury of this type. Losing the gamble likely results in death. Lots of people have died while reciting the same strategy you are following.
