i love dungeness crab!!

it doesnt happen very often, but somehow there was a leftover dungenees crab. i ziploced it and froze it. today i ditched work, thanks to the governor's furlough days.

my fridge? empty, and so was my stomach. i thawed the crab, and picked through it and collected all the meat. i dressed it simple with some mayo, scallions, celery, cilantro and a perfectly ripe avocado. i toasted a sourdough roll, added lettuce for a moisture barrier. squeeze of fresh lemon juice....OMG!

life is pretty good. i need to perfect some crab cakes.

Damn you, you got my mouth watering for this summer crab season.

There is nothing better than finding a good anchor spot, putting a frozen whole chicken in the cage, throw it over the side, go back to the cockpit and enjoy a cold bottle of white wine. In about 1-2 hours pull up cage, pick thru the catch of maybe 20-30 crab, keep the plump ones and have a great dinner, life is good.

The best crab cakes seem to come from the blue crabs from Chesapeake Bay back East, they make crab cakes to perfection.

I tend to eat the crab by itself long before I would have been able to make crab cakes.

Vash, just form that combo into a patty and lightly sear it on both sides, I bet that they will be the best crab cakes ever! Top with a few shots of tabasco, done. Enjoy with a nice Pacific Northwest microbrew.

Even though I live in AZ I grew up in Washington near near Dungeness Bay (on Bainbridge not far from Sequim).

There is no better seafood than Dungeness Crab!

Lobster is for little girls
