Ol' Man is Gitt'n' a Peacemaker
Heading to the gun show tomorrow. The plan is to look for a 7 1/2" Colt Peacemaker, newer third generation shooter. The ultimate plan is to re-live my youth, wherein that was the first "real" (non rimfire) gun I got to shoot. The rules (imposed by dad and uncles) were that we (cousins and brothers and I) could shoot all the bullets we could cast and lube, but we could only use black powder. We shot it in my uncle's apple orchard (along with a myriad of other guns, but the old Colt was the one we fought over), while dad and the uncles sat on the porch laughing their asses off.
I have not had a 7 1/2" for about two decades. I've settled on the 4 3/4" as my preferred length, since it's so much handier. This one won't be about "handy", though. I think I'll try to take another mulie next year with a traditional black powder load. Should be fun...

funny, when I read Lubemaster's "pacemaker" thread I thought, at first, it said his old man was gettin a "peacemaker" then this thread comes up LOL ... I tried to buy a buddy of mine's Python couldn't get it done for the price suggested on this forum, seams like the peacemaker is a little easier to buy. am I wrong. I would like to have an old Colt
