Do we need another shoe rack?

A repeated behavior pattern originates from either a true positive feedback or a neurotic compulsory syndrome.

That actually describes the relationship between my wife and IKEA.

He, he. I am sure you are not alone. Ingvar Kamprad is a very clever guy. He instinctively knew exactly what would have people, mostly women, throw their money at him. Top three richest guys in the world by now.

What good comes from being here? Great question!

I'm not normally the pessimist in the crowd, quite the opposite really, but I wonder what would happen to this community and the years of accumulated knowledge if this forum just stopped. Can you imagine that!
After all, heaven forbid, ***** happens sometimes. :(

Wayne could sell out to Vretex or get run over by a runaway floor jack and we'd all be staring at blank screens for half the day! Every day.

I just can't believe how incredibly lucky we are to have access to such a great resource and to be able to share knowledge and experiences with so many like-minded souls.

Last year, my wife and I toured around the states a bit and many of our most memorable experiences were influenced by or directly involved other Pelicans.
We bought cars from them, ate meals with them, sailed with them and stayed with them.
Just imagine this - we had been invited to stay for as long as we wanted by someone we'd never met. We were given an address that was pretty much at the end of the world (albeit only an hour out of DC) and we rolled up late in the day at a mailbox on a country road. At the other end of the half mile long gravel driveway, all we could see across the fields was a clump of trees near the water right at the outer edge of Maryland. No-one else in the world knew where we were.
My wife's fertile imagination kicked in and started pouring out all the "what if" scenarios that she's seen in the movies, Bones, CSI, Law & Order, NCIS, et al.
Anyhow, sanity prevailed and we headed off down that driveway and spent nearly a week being hosted by a great family (hint: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1296482008.gif).

It goes without saying that we all learn "technical stuff" from each other here, but I guess the point is that the good that comes from being here comes in different ways for different people. For my wife and I, it presented opportunities to meet some real 'murricans and get a much better appreciation of your culture and way of life - not the sort of experience you'd normally get as a tourist in a foreign land.
Watch out, we'll be back again later this year :D

Because outside of this place, nobody understands my obsession. After all, it's just a stupid CAR.

Actually this is like my focus group, anytime I need advice or a question answered I can always find it here. I greatly value the advice and entertainment that I've gained from this site, and have enjoyed every other Pelican I've met.

Seems this is like going through psychoanalysis without the psycho.
