A Pelican's new BMW Z3 Coupe - CONGRATS!!

A fellow Pelican enlisted my services to find and acquire this 2001 BMW Z3 3.0i Coupe 5 speed.
One of only 629 Coupes sold in 2001. Rare Hellrot II (Bright Red) exterior / Pearl Beige leather.
Quite low miles. Very nicely appointed. Price was below market.

Thank you to another Pelican, Bell, for helping perform a PPI at his shop in FL

Beautiful car that's very hard to find in this condition and miles
Congratulations!!

If the lucky Pelican wants to remain private, I respect that

Very nice shoe indeed.

I am sure the depreciation has taken its toll and that's a helluva lot of car for the money! No issues with that vintage in the BMW family - unlike the 911 line of cars.

Cool car... I recently sold my 2001 S54 M coupe. Very fun car. Had always wanted one and am glad I was able to scratch the itch.

I like 2 Z3s (aesthetically). I like the early narrow bodied Z3s. To me they look much better than the later cars that had the fender flares. I guess it's similar to me preferring the clean lines of the narrow bodied AC Cobras to the flared 427 style cobras.

The other Z3s that I really like are the coupes. I don't know what it is, maybe they are like pugs and bulldogs, so ugly that they're cute. IDK, but whatever it is, I do like them. That's a sharp looking car.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't go for the hairy chested model, the M. I assume the $ changes quite a bit then.

Well, we had that discussion. In many ways a 2001-2002 3.0 is equal to a 1999-2000 M. The 01/02 3.0s got larger brakes, bigger wheels, suspension upgrades, and more power. So much so that it only gives up 15 peak horsepower to the older M, but makes a little more power at lower rpms (thanks to vanos). This particular one even has Motorsports seats, steering wheel, and shifter as well as limited slip. But there were many other changes in 2001 that made the car more liveable, like the way the ABS/Traction/Stability interfaces with the powertrain, and many interior changes.

Now, if it were a 2001 S54 M Coupe it would be a completely different story. But it would have been double the money too.

I looked at a Coupe 3.0 a few years ago, just like the red one. I have always liked the look of these cars for some reason. I should have bought it, they're getting harder to find.
