One of the saddest stories from a student I experienced back in my days in education was a teen girl who had been molested by her father since she was 3 years old. Her mother knew about it and said & did nothing. In her early teens, she had a baby fathered by her uncle. She still lived at home, had a lock on her door, and a key she kept around her neck. She seemed to be handling it OK at the time, but I don't know what happened to her after I lost touch with her. This could be something involving a similar circumstance.

My wife and I met with our kids’ guidance counselors awhile back to confirm they were on the right track in high school, taking the right classes, etc. and one of the counselors mentioned we were one of the few parents to come and talk to them without being asked. He mentioned that girls at 14 were getting pregnant, kids in fights all the time, skipping school, failing, expulsions, etc.

And this is supposed to be a decent high school. For SC any way...

This is actually a bit true. We are being over-populated by moslem countries. They are having 5-10 kids per family and in doing so pushing out voters every 9 months.

Look in places like Lebanon where they had enough kids in a 30-40 year time span to make it able to take the country over legally... by out voting the Christian population.

Many Americans are not capable of parenting because they never matured enough to be a parent. They're just larger kids. Some of these parents who feel like they need to be their kids best friends.....wtf? You kid does not need a best friend. Your kid needs leadership, and discipline. They need to hear the word NO, and have that no backed up with action.

I love my daughter, and I enjoy playing with her and having fun. But she also knows that she is going to be given marching orders, and often we are not interested in negotiation on the issue. If she doesn't want to cooperate, thats her choice, but there are going to be......wait for it......consequences.

Be aware, there are legislators right now who are trying to redefine 'rape' to eliminate incest, intercourse while the woman is unconscious or extremely intoxicated, and statutory rape. This is to deny the option of abortion. If these legislators are successful, we will likely see more teen moms...

Those would be the legislators who are focused on "values?"

This proposed legislation as described in the article does NOT deny the option of abortion.

Technically true, as long as the 13 year old girl can pay for it.

As horrible as this is, it is more common than you think. In these situations, the adult woman is also often victim of abuse, but the decision to look the other way with their child is often a monetary one. I did several years of volunteer work for a local woman/child safety organization and was appalled at how often a woman will allow truly awful things to occur because she doesn't have a way to support herself. Gross isn't it? That a meal ticket often figures significantly into the equation.

Parents like these are broken in a way that cannot be fixed. A parent that will not fight for their child's safety, or even speak up so that someone else can, should be put to death. And yes, berfore anyone asks, I would personally throw the switch. The woman in the case described above is every bit as guilty as the man and deserves to burn in the same gasoline soaked hell as he does.

Woah! There'd be a lot of fried mommas if our Angela of Death was Queen. I have met many, many mothers who use their children as meal tickets. Nothing more. A way to get fed, clothed and housed. When that meal ticket runs out, those kids are dumped on the street. Literally kicked out of the car on their way home from their 18th b-day dinner at Applebee's. You think I exaggerate? I don't.
