There are foot prints on TOP of my car.

Looks like from a pair of Vans sneakers. Probably some skater I imagine.

My dilemma - obviously I didn't catch them and probably can't but I was contemplating calling the local police just the same to find out what they think. I'm surprised my car isn't dented at all due to the size. They look at least like 10s...

I'll be VERY impressed if the police show up for footprints on your car. You'd be lucky if they showed up for footprints in your house.

Report it. Next time it could be a broken window, and at least you'll have a 'clue' and a papertrail.

I once had footprints not only on the roof of my car, but through the back window as well. Police didn't give a crap, even though this was literally 500 feet from the local precinct. (If I rolled a bowling ball down my slightly inclined street, it would have hit the precinct's front steps.) I even had a documented beef with a neighbor, who was keying my car for parking in front of his house, and they didn't think it was related.

I called them right after I posted and spoke to a Lt. He asked me if there was any damage, there isn't. If there were he would have dispatched for a vandalism report.

You should try this, and videotape it.

I'd report it. Usually they go down the street doing more damage and sometimes they are caught 3 streets down. That way you can add to the list.

OTOH for minor stuff I would not call the cops. Because then they cruise your hood up and down and you'll be the first one to get a ticket breaking in your cams on the new engine at 11pm or parking in the street overnight ....
