When I was 10, I knew the name of all the players (6 teams). I used to wear my pads and sweater to watch the game on our new colour TV.

Back then more then 50% of the players that where French Canadian and the rest from English Canada.

Today, there is 3 guys from Quebec and another 10 from the rest of Canada out 27 player...

Nothing wrong with Anglo, I married a red hair one , but there is the story.

That was in 1967 which was an important date for Canada. We celebrated our 100 anniversary (Expo 67) and... Let me think... Oh yeah, it was the last time the Leaf won the Stanley Cup

Would you like me to e-mail you the Bruins avatar now or would you rather wait until the first round is over?

I expect the Bruins will win. But I doubt that when all is said and done anyone will say 'goaltending was the big difference'. If the Bruins were playing the Leafs with Jiggy in net, I would agree that there would be a big advantage. Not so versus Carey Price.

Montreal has the edge in special teams, and speed. But the Bruins are bigger, tougher, have more scoring power and better are defensively. Those are the real advantages that need to be examined in judging who will win.

Either way, I can't wait to see the new avatar in two weeks (or less).

I expect Montreal Boston to be quite entertaining. I'd love to see Gio knock Big Bird on his arse!

Which is why earlier I said this:

I do think that when it comes to playoff time, quality goalkeeping is magnified to the point of being a game changer. Price is good. Thomas is better. It should be quite a match up. Hopefully both teams will bring their best to the ice. The B's need to prove they can go the distance. Last year, Savard's injury threw them off and the Flyers hung in there long enough to make the incredible comeback. If everyone stays healthy and no one tries to arrest Chara... then the B's have a honest shot at the big silver cup.
I wonder if Lord Stanley could have ever dreamed what he started...
Pop quiz: Do you know who these folks are?

The bottom guy is Willie O'ree or some spelling close to that.

The top guy looks like Cam Neely but the jersey number is wrong

Pop Quiz #2 - What did he 'start'? And part b) who really owns the Cup? (This question isn't a joke, google, or I can post the answers later)

I knew both of them, and probably any other player from that era, but the 'tags' on your photo's also showed their names....

The tags did show the names but I thought it fun to post the pics since most folks don't know that the first black professional hockey player played in the NHL in 1957. I figured someone would guess Phil E instead of Mike. That pic is a far cry from the portly fellow who argues with everyone on Versus and NBC (but he knows his stuff). Obviously, both played for the Bruins. As did these two folks:

Cheevers and Orr. I have Bobby's autograph.. Somewhere. Got it in 1967.

Mike Millbury talks like he knows his stuff. His on the job performance was a bit lacking. In fact he was a huge failure.

Who really owns the cup? Trick question: which one? The ownership of the original is actually a debated issue. IMO, Lord Stanley purchased the cup and then granted 2 trustees the right to award it to a club for a year. I my simple mind, that means it is still owned by Stanley or his heirs.
What did he start? Actually, nothing in the sense that he did not organize the sport. That said, he purchased the bowl to be awarded and it became the holy grail. Lord Stanley created an object for all of hockey to desire so I guess you could say that he started the passion and drive to win so that the winning club would have visible proof of their bragging rights.
Question: if you knew who was in the first two pictures then why did you check the tags?

Mike knows his stuff, he just couldn't coach worth a darn. Frankly, I have more respect for Eddie Olczyk, Keith Jones, and Brian Engblom. One of my favorite color announcers was John Davidson.

Not too many player can make the transition and get the Stanley Cup...

The only come to mind is;

Jacques Lemaire; 8 as a player & 1 as a coach
