Saw it coming; switch for the news at 2-0, fall asleep, wake-up to the riot pictures on the news. Well Joe's team win, my team got beat by the Stanley Cup Winner and the Habs still has the most Stanley Cups; stop counting at 25 :):D:) |
Too bad that the fans outside the building were not quite as classy as the fans at the game.
No riots in Cowtown after the Flamers lost the cup in 86 or in 04, and the Flames really should have won (did win) that series. Pretty small percent of the population that are douche nozzles that cause this type of problem. Was it the fans fault or the police for losing control of the situation? |
JJ: I see you wasted no time putting das babe back up. I don't remember you ever changing the user title though.
Billy: I was surprised at how the fans acted like they were from Green Bay (as in the Packers) or Boston! A lot of noise during the anthem, tons of boos during the presentation of the cup... You folks north of the border had more class than the US when it came to stuff like that. I imagine the Vancouver tourism dept won't be using the photos of overturned cars in flames any time soon. The looters must have been visiting from New Orleans. |

I'll be happy to e-mail the Logo (not pictures of a play, shirt) to anyone that needs it:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1308236168.jpg Wear it proud. |
So how long do we wait before discussing the match?
|
The fans inside booed Bettman. They cheered Thomas. Nothing wrong with either one.
|
Congratulations to the Bruins and their fans. That was a very entertaining series. TT established himself as a top top goalie.
Let me know when I can take the bruins logo off my avitar and start talking trash about next season now that the Flyers will have a Goalie. Enjoy the win!!! Nice to see Mark Recchi go out on top!!! |

4 minutes and change left to go, I surprisingly found myself kind of cheering for Boston, at least for Thomas. I thought, I really hope he gets the shut-out. Imagine: a shut-out, the Conn Smythe and the Cup, all on one night - probably the best night of his life. Looks good on him, especially after the last few years of his career.
|
FB: step up and speak.
My observations: -Timmy could possibly win the Triple Crown this year: Conn Smythe, Vesina, and maybe the Norris (?) His story would make a good made-for-TV movie. Talk about a feel good ending for a guy that had to battle every step of his career. -I think that the first goal sealed the deal. After that, the Canucks looked frustrated. By the third period they just looked tired. As the commentators stated, I believe that it was a culmination of 6.5 previous games of punishing play that just wore them down. Edler must have played with unbearable pain. Malholtra has a lot of guts to play with his injury. I was glad to see Raymond and Horton there. They both "took one for the team". -I wondered why they left Luongo in? Could it be that the team didn't agree with that decision or did they just feel that it was his to win or lose? -Did anyone else notice that Lucic got the best applause when he lifted the cup. I wonder why (note green indicates sarcasm). |
They left Luongo in becasue he makes $7M per year and has years and years left on his contract. There is no changing. You have to keep him on board.
|
I thought that Luongo would be gone after two periods and was genuinely surprised to see him in the third. But Schneider might have been swimminng in chum after those two periods as Boston was just absolutely in charge.
It's not possible to know what was in the Canucks heads but I imagine they were under incredible pressure. Game 7, home ice, first Cup ever, plenty of wins at home and just being Canadian...incredible pressure. Maybe they did just buckle. But Boston was relentless in their attack. Even providing TT with backup when his wanderings got him into trouble. Though a disappointing game 7 for me as a fan, I'd have to say that Boston won this far more than Vancouver losing it. |

Hope you will go to the parade. I did a few on St-Catherine street :) Yes, I went from "Register User" to this one as soon as you tell us how ;) I thought I had a bigger avatar!!! |

After living large as a Bruin everything else seems small. |
Hats off to the 'Broons' especially to T(sq'd). He's paid his dues & deserves his turn to bask in the limelight. Too bad about the few rioting rat-bastards that give my city a black eye. Also don't give the boo-birds any consideration. They're poor losers - not that anybody enjoys losing. Once again, Congrats Boston. I'm glad it is all over but the crying. Me, I can get back to enjoying the summer & working on my 'project car'. Thanks Gentlemen This was a fun thread & I look forward to this starting again next season. Now for some 'hair of the dog'.
Cheers JB |
I feel sorry for Bobby-lou
The most interesting goalie in the world...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1308270481.jpg I do hope this gets by the scrutineers - it is just too funny not to share. It always amazes me just how fast this stuff comes out. Cheers JB |

FYI I know where they're staying - I saw them roll up this AM across the street from a project I'm working on in downtown Boston... If anyone is interested...
Parade is Saturday at 11:00 - not going (I'm not going to pretend I'm a diehard fan or anything) but I think it's great they won - from what I did see and hear they really played their hearts out and are a worthy team - pretty cool. W hotel, FYI. |
