No, not that pickup Wolfe....

I'm going to meet a guy in a couple hours to see an F-150. Last year, I got rid of my truck. Claimed I was turning over a new leaf, and I was going to simply rent a truck if I need it. Yeah, well I HATE not having a truck. Drives me freaking nuts. Need some 4x8 sheet rock? Yeah, instead of an hour trip to the lumber yard, that just turned into a 3 hour ordeal that involves a crap load of extra driving and $$$ to rent a truck.

I considered getting a trailer and putting a hitch on my wifes SUV, but our driveway is a twisty deal that comes off a busy arterial street. I really don't want to try backing a trailer in or out.

Unless someone has some brilliant idea, I'm going to buy another truck. No, I am not putting a roof rack on my 997.

btw, if you care, 2000 F-150 4x4 supercab, 77k, 5.4 V8, good condition, $5800.

And yes, I have clearly already made my choice, I'm just looking for affirmation :D

How well will it run on E15?

That is why I have an El Camino. I can't imagine life without a pickup bed. I never get into heavy hauling, but I have too many projects that require a pickup.

Don't listen to the negative one....BUY the truck...at $5800 if worse came to worse you could leave it by the side of the road with the keys in it..and not be out very much in the scheme of things. However one presumes that it is not going to get a lot of miles put on it, as such as U have found out a truck can be very usefull at times.

When I was 17 I bought my first pick-up, then I sold it and bought a 914. then I got another pick up, and then sold it and got another car. This went back and forth several times until I finally admitted I needed to have a pick-up to be happy.
I've had one ever since and even though I rarely haul anything in it, I still just like having and driving a pick up truck.
I say go for it.

Can't survive in the country w/o a pick-up. I say "go for it".

Why such a big gashog for limited use? Why 4x4? Maybe consider a smaller truck with a 4 cylinder.

Preach on brother. I always have a truck, current is a 2002 F150 4x4 with the 4.6 V8, stick shift. Around here used F150's litter the streets, you can pick and choose and get exactly what you want, its nuts to buy new.

I had the little Mazda B2200 with carbs; it was a thirsty little truck! It was good for getting my wife to her part time job, hauling the dogs around, and getting yard waste to the landfill. But then we couldn't drive anywhere in the summer wit it, and I'm not about to load up two black labs and a parrot in the Accord, so I picked up (no pun intended) a F150 4X4 5.4 Triton. Thirsty too, but it's not really an issue since we only put on approx 7-8K Km year. I really like driving it the few times I do. I figure I'll always have a truck as long as we have a house and a "zoo".

I love my 2001 F150 SuperCrew Lariat with a 5.4, but the MPG sucks. I'm getting 12 in the city and 15-16 on the hwy, but it does have 188,000 miles on it. Maybe it's getting tired?

EDIT: I''ve had a pickup truck of one kind or another for 20 years. My wife wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have one.

I say depend on what type of person you are. Always find something to do at home, or siting at the TV or computer when at home?
For me, I had same situation, same thoughts, same decision last year. Now, I got a ranger. I use it a lot more than I thought I would.

I used to have unlimited access to my wife's F150, but I backed it into something last monday and she cut me off.

Had trucks in the past.

Switched over to SUV's and a 6x10 utility trailer and never looked back......except when backing up the trailer.

I've had a Pick up for at least the last 30 years. Currently have a 07 Chevy 2500 with a diesel it's the best one yet. They're big and dumb and use too much gas
but they sure are handy I say buy it

My current pickemup, a 2010 F-150 gets 17 mpg combined with the 5.4 engine.
I used to have a datsun pickemup that got 21 mpg, and a nissan that got 22.

Unless the current smaller sized trucks are less thirsty than they used to be, the mileage really isn't an issue with the big truck small truck thing IMO.
