Fiero GT.... just like a Ferrari!
Byron looks pretty good in this video
Let's start with quality and workmanship..... Pontiac's milled and drilled fit and finish....

The funny stuff doesn't start until 35 seconds or so. Skip past the first part

Funny stuff...
I always kinda liked those cars in a weird way. They'd be fun to rip on at the track and dirt cheap too... Heck if I could find one for a couple of thousand bucks I'd jump on it. Pure "drive the snot out of it until the wheels drop off" enjoyment. |

120 mph speedo? OMG..............
Yeah GM really sweated the aero on the Fiero- front wheels sticking out past the bumper by two inches. ![]() And you gotta love the patented GM exhaust burble. One of the crappiest exhaust notes ever to grace the roads. Thanks for sharing. Brings back great memories of the 80's. Nice socks Laura! Another funny thing about the video is the RX-7 comparo. Great car back then, still is today. Fiero? Notsomuch. Shame, because GM could have made it a pretty good car had they not economized it so much. 4 cyl. "Iron Duke" always running a qt. low on oil? Yeah, that was a smart design decision..... Typical GM 80's mediocre stuff- plenty of style, not a lot of substance.

I saw a black one this morning with a Chevy V8 in it, now I wish I had taken pictures. It was a good looking job.
Another one there that I see every week has the standard V6 in it. He talks a lot about putting the Grand National V6 Turbo in it but that won't happen. |

The "news" people were real anchors. Doris Biscoe was on the Detroit channel for years and co-anchored with the mighty Bill Bonds. The guy's name escapes me, though.

If I were to do one today, I'd do the 300+ hp 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP's (or Impala SS') all-aluminum V8 as it was meant to be a transverse engine, so everything, including accessories and transmission, just drops in to a Fiero.

It's really cool some of the swaps people will do. The northstar V8 is a questionable one, despite the smart choice of the transverse V8. Those northstars are cooling challenged, no? I recall the Aurora 4.0L being accused of that (mommy had one that I worked on). Nice engine though- strong and smooth. I guess I find it funny to use a swap engine that still retains some characteristics of the original junk engine- can't keep it cool enough
I agree with the 3800 SC choice. Those 3800s are bulletproof and run forever. GM built so many and tweaked on it so much, they eventually got it right just out of simply using it for so long? ![]()
