Dude, you're back, lets do lunch if you can get the time off. PM me your info. I did P4 for months in Hawaii and London.

The last ten years I worked, it was 40+ hours and more when extra projects came along. When we were writing proposals, it was 7 AM to 9 or 10 PM until it was finished.

I have had plenty ofmsalariedmjobs where i did not need to work over time often. Sometimes there is no avoiding it. Now however I'm probably working between 40-50 depending on the demand. I dont feel under paid and i enjoy my work and work flexibly so that it doesnt kill my family life. Its a good gig but i worked hard to get here and i work hard to keep it.

Pushing close to 50 the last two weeks... Definitely thinking under-paid, but it's a buyer's (employer's) market out here.

20 years ago, I was working 60-80 hours a week to get it done. As I hot better, the hours cam down some, but I work I don't know how many nights, weekends and holidays to get the job (house) done.

I remember hitting 40 hours by the end of day three all the time.

40h/week.
Contract says 38 so we get 2 weeks of "recuperation leave" at the end of the year.

Back when I did the dredging thing I did 84h/week for a 72 day period then we would have 24 days off.

37.5, but I don't work every second of those 37.5 hours... lots of socializing in our hangar.

Am I underpaid? For the work I do, yes. Aircraft mechanics are notoriously underpaid for the level of responsibility of the job.

40-50 when I'm in the office.

60-90 when I'm in the field. When in the field I do at least get 60 hrs paid straight time but, the rest is given in blood.

50+ for the last nine years, fair compensation, and (most days) I loved my job.

Somewhat less since retirement (Jan 2011)

When I was salaried = 45-80 depending on schedule. Now that I am a contractor = 40. They prefer not to pay overtime...

Bob Slydell: You see, what we're actually trying to do here is, we're trying to get a feel for how people spend their day at work... so, if you would, would you walk us through a typical day, for you?

Peter Gibbons: Yeah.

Bob Slydell: Great.

Peter Gibbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.

Bob Porter: Da-uh? Space out?

Peter Gibbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.
