Best of luck, NY is one of the toughest States regarding handguns. 10 round magazines should not be a problem though, last time I checked.

Second follow billh1963's advice and get lawyer'ed up ASAP. This is how they roll in this state, a bunch of chicken $hits who like to hide behind sleazy lawyers. You have to fight fire with fire on this one.

It's not a federal crime to have a 12 rd. mag. If they're really threatening this, call their bluff and take it. Since it's not a federal crime, you walk.

NYS does have a high capacity magazine restriction. limited at 10. ....can they like..not count or something? try to put 12 bullets into the magazine...does it fit? durrrr

Whatever NY's laws are, it doesn't make it a federal crime. And if you're moving between domiciles, you're probably covered in any event. Though the law doesn't mean much in NY or NJ. My mom used to work for our county prosecutor in NJ and her policy was to confiscate any gun a cop ever laid his eyes on, no reason, no charges, no get back.

lawyer up...and may not be a bad idea to at least phone up NRA regional chapter and see what advice they have. at least u know they have background knowledge about this sort of thing

Get a lawyer....contact the NRA or any gun rights advocacy group to find a lawyer experienced with gun law cases in your state.

Not. In NY, you have to have a Permit to own. And the permit is issued per handgun. I prefer to nto step foot in that state.

It's not just ownership, you can't possess a handgun without a permit in NY. That in itself can get you a felony charge. This will likely be criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and is a Class A misdemeanor charge.

Also, NY limits the magazine to 10 rounds for any mag manufactured after 1994. When the federal ban expired, the NY ban did not. If the mags are not marked with a mfg date, it'll be hard to prove that.

Counting the days until July 31, 2011...open carry in FL (hopefully) becomes law. You won't be able to miss me...I'll be walking down the road with a Glock on each hip, both loaded with 15 rd. clips, and two more clips on my belt. Hallelujah!
