Battle: Los Angeles

I'm just about to see this movie with my son.

Review to follow.

Why would anyone bother fighting over it? I don't get the premise.

Good movie. Not great but still entertaining.

Original ideas and a some good moments. Worth seeing IMO.

It was filmed here at the junction of I-20 and I-49. They blocked off about a mile of I-49 and had "smoke/explosion" warning signs on I-20. Overturned trucks, cars, etc... was a pretty involved set.

Too expensive to shoot in Santa Monica - they CGI'd "LA" into the film. There is something ironically appropriate about that.

The movie is black hawk down meets independence day from an infantry squad perspective.

While there were some glaring tactical foo-pahs and technical idiocies, it was overall a very entertaining movie.

I definitely would recommend it to anyone that likes war and or alien invasion movies.

My roommate just came home and claimed it was a horrible, horrible film.

But he's an idiot, so I may just see it.

So they shot Louisiana for LA?, must have been tax breaks.

+1

I liked the movie because it was about a squad facing the enemy directly.
There were no Generals directing things remotely. They had to make their own decisions and deal with the consequences.

It has Bridget Moynahan in it, so it's got that.

Battle: Los Angeles :: rogerebert.com :: Reviews

Roger Ebert gave it half a star, and that high only because it has Bridget Moynahan.

"Battle: Los Angeles" is noisy, violent, ugly and stupid."

"The dialogue consists almost entirely of terse screams: Watch it! Incoming! Move! Look out! Fire! Move! The only characters I re*member having four sentences in a row are the anchors on cable news."

"When I think of the elegant construction of something like "Gunfight at the OK Corral," I want to rend the hair from my head and weep bitter tears of despair. Generations of filmmakers devoted their lives to perfecting techniques that a director like Jonathan Liebesman is either ignorant of, or indifferent to. Yet he is given millions of dollars to produce this assault on the attention span of a generation."

Wow! For once Denis doesn't note there are 57 other hotter chicks he's seen on his way to Starbucks this morning!

Must be rough being Tom Brady, huh? Bridget...Giselle...

I loved the movie--non-stop aliens vs. human war action in a serious non-Will Smith type of movie. If I want a sappy love story, big-cry at the end military movie I'll watch Starship Troopers.

Brady downgraded on that trade, if you ask me. Then again, who knows? Bridget might be the world's biggest PIA, ie. not worth it even though she's the hottest thing in 2 shoes.

And it's Peet's coffee, not Starbucks.

That's one hot Irish bee-yatch. Probably like going on every ride at Magic Mountain at the same time.

I hope it's not as bad as Skyline turned out to be. That was a movie I was looking forward to for a long, long time... I saw previews at a local Sci-Fi convention a few years ago and it looked great. They slaughtered it...
