Picky, picky.

People have tried to tell me that there is this great difference in vodka. I don't have that sensation. It's like moonshine to me, just something to drink when you want to drink.

So...price. Definitely not the bottle shape.

I had a friend who would buy any vodka, as long as it wasn't in a plastic bottle.

I don't subscribe to that, however.

Interesting tendency. I was a bit under impression that ppl paid a bit more attention to what they were buying. Speaking from my own experience, I tend to look at the bottle, how it looks tells me that the manufacturer is probably not a one man show so to speak. I then check where it came from and make sure vodka is made from grain. Lastly, I look for the country of origin.

Russian and Belarus school of vodka making is geared towards smooth and tasteless vodkas, which warm you up from inside. You do not get too drunk and don't get a huge hangover the next day. They go down smoothly and you can pretty much sip them.
Polish and Ukrainian vodkas have a more profound spirit taste, burn and get you drunk quicker.
Scandinavians, they try, but they do not have the water. Their sources of water, like glaciers and icebergs produce distilled (or dead) water that has little taste, and water is 60% of the vodka.

That's my opinion, but keep on answering, you guys.

Hmm. Alcohol content is what gets you drunk. Maybe the different drunk between the two kinds has more to do with how you drink it than where it was made.

If you drink 5 different types or brands of alcohol that are all 80proof, and you drink them all under the same conditions in the same period of time, you're going to be just as drunk with any of them.

In theory they all should work the same, but in practice I personally digest Russian and Belarus vodkas better. The others make me feel sick the next day.

Lets say you were to drink 200ml of 80 proof vodka. This means you are taking in 80ml of 100% spirit. Had you gotten that spirit clear all in the same amount of time as you would 200ml of vodka, you'd be getting drunk way faster.

We used to drink beer with tea spoons and got drunk quite a bit from just one bottle. Oh, and by drunk I mean a state where you remember little the next day

Oh well, we can argue all day long, but judging from my little poll, it looks like it's a tough market for a new brand, unless it is cheap.

I don't buy much vodka because my wife makes sure we're always stocked up. My vodka intake is limited to the occasional martini or bloody mary.

Her choice is cheap Russian.

Vodka tastes like hairspray. Even the expensive ones. But really, the only reason I drink Vodka is either martini's or bloody mary's and the only reason I voted was because of the boobies above...
