GoDaddy CEO kills elephant, posts vid. People on the Twitter are saying its disgusting. I see it as feeding hungry people which is in no way disgusting. Perhaps I am wrong… what do you guys think?

On a morality level, it's not much different than mouse traps, ant poison, pesticides, etc. except to say the meat is used to feed people who otherwise might go hungry. On a PR level, I think it's a dumb move. Too many people will only see it from a "cute elephant" perspective.

IDIOTIC PR move on his part.
Other than that, I don't see any problem, as long as it's legal, etc. Just foolish of him to try to call his elephant kill "humanitarian work." Most Americans don't understand where meat comes from; they're used to getting pretty little packages in the supermarket.

Problem with Elephants is they are intelligent, emotional and don't forget.
Plenty of documented cases of them actively and purposefully seeking out and literally hunting down humans who have killed members of their herds. They've been known to trample entire villages. There are other ways to make them go away.

If the hunt is legal, what's the problem? Reading the comments here makes me wonder exactly when did the emasculation of our society has taken place. When did being a man doing man things become taboo?
We might as all well drive the prius or leaf on the way to the therapist today. In the near future, reading books from authors such as Hemingway will be fantasy. Great loss of identity for men, that's for sure. |

So much of it is that we grew up loving Dumbo.
Elephants are without a doubt very intelligent and very long lived. We can see the long childhood and the society the elephant herds have and identify with them. It is always interesting killing a rat is seen as a good thing but killing a squirrel is frowned upon because it is cute. The furry tail make all the difference. When any dangerous animal competes with humans for habitat the animals loose.
