Why Does my Browser Freeze?

Running Windows 7 64-bit for almost a year now. Recently, I started having an issue with uploading files inside of my browser. When I go to attach documents to emails or upload photos here on PPOT, my browser will lock up when I am in the "browse" process looking for the file I plan on attaching. This occurs across all browsers (Firefox, IE, Chrome).

Any ideas?

Download and install:
CCleaner -> CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
Auslogics Disk Defrag -> Disk Defrag - Fast and Safe Defragmenter for Your Disks

Remember to run them as administrator. Yes, do a registry backup when using CCleaner.

A little cleaning can help lots.

Also before running those, uninstall any programs you're not using. Get rid of files in your 'my documents' folder you're not using or haven't used in a long time.

Just out of curiosity, how much Hard-Drive space do you have used/available?

Sometimes it'll wait while it goes looking at all available/mounted drives or paths.

If you have a DVD in the drive, it'll spin it up to get all the details from it before unfreezing.

If you have a remote or external drive that is unconnected or spun down, it'll do the same.

If your last location was remote, and it is not authenticated/mounted, same deal.

Don't those downloads do what's on the computer already? Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup? Seem it would be just two more programs to slow thing down.

I would not install a different defrag program. Microsoft bought out the best 3rd party defrag co years ago and incorporated it into the os.

Sure they do...

Although, YMMV.
