$16,900? 142,000 miles? Ehh, I think it's low for a 'dealer.' It's an honest price otherwise. Maybe it has an accident history.

That's cheap... And if the engine ever blew you could slam a Chev in the back and nobody would be the wiser. (You probably know already but Renegade make a LSV8 kit for the 996 cars)

Supply & demand...demand is low, obviously. I noted the ad pic didn't show much. Probably for a reason.

But if you click on that pic you get a lot of good photos in a popup window.

My Bad...I missed that. But I doubt I'd look long at any used car with that many miles. The price reflects this.

That's the market for 'high-mileage' early 996s. They're available closer to you for similar money.

How long before a nice SC is worth more than these cars?

To the average customer a German car - esp a "Porche" with 142K is a scary preposition. Had it been a Honda that might be a different story. Especially in this economy. rjp

SC's are old enough now that their pricing is pretty much ALL about condition-condition-condition. (edit) It's a taste thing for sure, but all things considered, I'd prefer a well cared for never dinged all original low miles 911SC over a 996 in similar condition & miles. But then, I'm a kook who doesn't like the waterpumper 911's.

Pricing is all over the map on 3.0 and 3.2 cars. I saw a SC cab the owner in AZ wanted - $75K you heard me, $75K because it had less than 30K on it. I wonder how many dudes thought that their SC was worth AT LEAST $20k once they saw that. Honestly, with the pricing of 964 and now the 993 being what they are, I don't see why anyone would go for a 3.0 or 3.2 car...It's just not there. rjp (Who used to own an SC)

A week ago in Philly a silver 1999 996 C2 Coupe 6spd with 81K miles brought $13,100 at auction. The CHEAPEST 993 to sell at auction in the last 6 months brought $18,500

I dunno Randy, the 911SC's reputation as a long lived and trouble free 911 model is a stellar one. Not saying they'll deserve the price of a similar condition 993, but they do have a following.

Despite all the headaches associated with the purchase of the car... mine was a great price for the car... roughly $7k after all was said and done.

Make no mistake- at $7k I'd be all over it. When you start getting into the high teens- now that's what I'm talking about. rjp (who might have to do a 996 sooner or later)

A friend sent me the link, asked if I thought it was a good deal. The lighting in the pics suck. I'm not a huge fane of that particular style but all things considered I guess the milage thing would tend to make me shudder. I would like to se the maint history...
