door to door solictor trick, learned from a pelican!

Little trick I learned here:

I was just out in the garage a few minutes ago and one of those door to door solicitor parasites walked up and said "excuse me, are you the homeowner?"
i said "the bank owns more of than I do" (which isn't true, but play along).
He asked "are you unhappy with your electric bill?"

I said " I haven't paid my electric bill in three months. Haven't made a house payment in 12 months either!" He quickly walked away

I normally don't tell lies but this little white one was fun

I thought the standard response was to berate them with obscenities until they leave.

Step it up a notch and say "Well, I haven't paid my electric bill in 3 months, but I believe that God has a plan for me, and for all of us. Would you like to come in for some Sanka?"

Honesty has nothing to do with door to door solicitation.
It's the lowest of low, something that is done by people with no morals or skills.
They are predators and parasites looking to take advantage of old ladies and anyone gullible to believe their lies.

Maybe he has no skills and that was the best job he could find? If so, good for him! It just seems like so many people think the world (or the govt) owes them. They don't want to work or, they want to be at a company 2 weeks and get a raise. Anyone who is at least trying to do honest work gets an atta-boy from me. I understand that there are a lot of scam artists out there but I would hope to give someone the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. How many people think that all Porsche owners are di_k-heads that are full of themselves? Are we all that way? Some certainly are but not all.

Most d to d people are not legitimate. By that, I say they don't have a city license to sell anything. I had a guy ask me if he could come in and check my alarm system to see if he could do me one better.

He was gonna do me alright. I stepped inside and called 911. Bastard got away before the cops got here. I pretty much look at all of them from a do-I call-911-or-not basis.

I loved the one who walked up while I was working on my car and proceeded to babble about meat he was selling from his truck. He walked into my garage, bad move on his part. I got out from under the car, told him he was in my house without permission, and I felt threatened, and was within my legal rights to defend my property. He started running for some reason shortly after that statement

Ya know, Joe has a point. Not all door-to-door salesmen are scheisters. We berate people for being lazy, sponging, etc. but then give them ***** if they go out and try to hustle up a living because they annoy us. Can't have it both ways.

We live on a hobby farm out in the country. Door to door duds, and anyone for that matter, have to make a trip out to see us. In any case, we send out the Rottie, most never get out of their car. Those that do, know that most Rotties want to lick you in the face versus taking off your face as shown on TV. Works all the time!

So the consensus is:
"Lets all be rude to everyone who tries to do some kind of work that is beneath our standards because they tried to sell us something.
Lets treat them like dirt! Yeah, lets even threaten them. Great. After all, if that guy going door to door isn't smart enough to own a Porsche, he can't be worth anything. Right? I mean, he worked his azz off to try to get a GED but since he's not as good as us he can't be honest or want to feed a family. Right? Then, lets all wonder why they think folks with nice cars and houses are jerks and say "what's the sense of trying" and go back to burglarizing houses and key-jobbing Porsches in the parking lot for no reason. Good plan.

Not quite the same but I had a scammer phoning me from Asia. I said "sure but first of all you buy life insurance from me" She said she didn't want any and I said "I insure you for a million bucks, and you just give me one dollar". She was getting concerned and again she said she didn't want life insurance, I said if she tells me her bank account number I'll take the one dollar out and she doesn'tneed to do anything. She got back onto trying to run her scam on me but while she was talking I kept quietly chanting "Chinese Japanese Chinese Japanese..." Strangely she told me to get f*ed and hung up on me.

Except for neighbor kids selling Girl Scouts cookies, I won't give those people a dime. On several occasions my wife has fallen for the "I'm selling x to earn a school trip to Europe" or something to that effect. Big shocker, we've never received any of the stuff that she's paid for. Plus I've never even been to Europe, why should I pay for some random stranger to go?

But I'm a callous ass, I'm sure they're all rehabbing former drug addicts.
