This guy may be a ticking time bomb. There is an observed link between kids who abused animals and grew up to be serial killers. Authorities may look back with regret if they let him walk away with a simple misdemeanor charge. He needs to be watched.

Someone purposely doing harm to an animal should get a felony..If someone has no conscience, fear of a felony might keep them from acting on sick impulses..

RWebb 04-26-2011 09:34 PM

depends on the animal - what if the guy kills a rotifer?

McLovin 04-26-2011 09:42 PM

along the lines of the o'leary bit, it is kind of weird.

guy kills some cute ducklings and most of you think he should be tortured or do 4 years in prison.

but a harmless garden snake is going along its way in your yard, and most of you gleefully take a shovel to its head - and then come here to brag about your bravery.

or, people show videos of people blowing the heads off of squirrels with their high powered "spoons" and everyone here thinks it's hilarious.

strange.

a-fricken-men

replace the words duck and duckling with snake in the article. how many of you care?

this is comedy at its best and most telling.

thanks, mclovin, for distilling the hypocrisy and idiocy.

rusnak 04-26-2011 10:16 PM

I wouldn't kill a baby snake, but if I see you kill a puppy, I'll turn your ass into a bowling ball and roll you into rush hour traffic, and I really don't care what anyone calls that.

Geronimo '74 04-26-2011 11:16 PM

I hope he does a little jailtime and gets a55raped by a guy named Donald.

Lots of bad, crazy stuff happening at McDonald's establishments these days. A duckling just can't catch a break. If they had been inside trying to use the ladies restroom, they may have met the same fate.

DanielDudley 04-27-2011 02:18 AM

I wouldn't be very happy if my kid was eating a happy meal, and looked out the window to see that.

That Hoon in a Hummer going Gangsta on a little duckie needs to get his tie straightened.

100+

I try to avoid animals on my fairly rural commute. I sure will not drive into the ditch for any critter, but I hit the brakes hard the other day to avoid a ugly assed possium. I knew there was no one behind me to rear end me.

targa911S 04-27-2011 04:40 AM

For clarification, although I am a spoon guy, I am not a hunter. The only critter that I do shoot is groundhogs. They are a menace here to crops, and there are thousands of them around here. I have seen what a gang of them can do to a field of soy beans in just one night. They dig holes so deep that livestock break legs in them. My BIL has 100 acres of beans and corn. I help him out through the summer months protecting his investment. Running over a bunch of duckings with a Hummer for grins is a whole different scenario.

Did he have a license to hunt ducklings with his car? No, then he is a poacher. If he wants to engage in bloodsport, he needs to get his gun safety certification, his duck hunting license, a shotgun, and a gun dog.

What he did was unsportsmanlike and as such he brings a bad image to the hobby of bloodsport. It is his type that make conservationists like myself outraged.

This guy should face poaching and hunter ethics violations. He should be prosecuted by the appropriate conservation officer and DNR.

Wow alot of big tough animal defenders.
A felony, this is a crime, but its not a felony. A serial abuser could be felony material. Hopefully your kids don't slip up doing stupid sh##. Kids do stupid sh##, so we absolute destroy this kids life. Give me a break, we all did stupid sh## and ended up regretting it, now imagine paying for it for the rest of your life.

Remember the case were the kids paint balling people did four friggin years....justice I don't think so.

GH85Carrera 04-27-2011 05:08 AM

Doug, in many states the poacher can have his hunting equipment confiscated. I hope that jerk has that Hummer confiscated.

I disagree. Did you see some of the video those jerks shot. They would nail someone on a bike and cause him to crash. That is reckless disregard of others. The bike crash could easily kill the rider. I hope they had 4 years of HARD time. That is getting off easy.

What if you were the duck ?
Do you remember when carjacking was getting outa control ? Remember how easy it was to fix that problem..Maybe if animal abuse had harsher consequences, it would make a kid or adult think twice..

Unsportsmanlike conduct is not animal abuse or cruelty. I like the idea of this guy having his weapon confiscated, in this case it is his car.

romad 04-27-2011 05:27 AM

What if I was a duck... really thats your argument. If this is a felony then every dead animal found on the road should be investigated for possible wrongful death.
