Is Tabasco hot?

Just asking. We think my son's a "supertaster". He gets upset about how "spicy" Heinz ketchup is sometimes.

Not really. They run from a Sweet & Spicy up through a habenero....Not really "hot" in Scoville units, but OK as far as taste

(yes, that's a gallon)

Then he would have not wanted to walk into the kitchen when my mom was making chili. Just stirring the pot would make me sweat. It did not burn your mouth, but from the back of your throat to the very end so to speak you felt the burn. I loved it when I was a young-un teenager and into my 20s and early 30s. Once I approached middle age I had to have a bottle of Maalox close at hand.

She won the Gold Medal & Blue ribbon for it at the State Fair of Oklahoma back in the 80s.

Our standard take out Pizza is Pepperoni, Sausage, and Jalapeno peppers. Our kids couldn't handle the peppers until age 10 or so. Now they love them. Tobasco - I'm not a fan of the flavor but will use it on eggs. Not hot unless you really lay it down.

It is to the uninitiated. Way back when I thought so, got used to it and others. Heck my son thought standard pepperoni was spicy when he was young. He loves it now and is vernturing into spicy food at 6 years old.

I prefer "Franks". But neither is really hot.

Nah, it "spices things up a bit" and that helps but its not that spicy.

Tabasco is aged in oak casks deep in caves (salt mines) like a fine wine.

ne plus ultra!

I also like Franks - it has more garlic & less heat.

Smokey tabasco is fabulous.

And I like Cajun Chef.

It's not bad, I would put it in the middle of the hot sauces out there. I like it on eggs and mix some in with ketchup when Sriracha isn't available. Mary and I put hot peppers on everything. The hotter the better, so I consider myself a little numb to spicy sauces, etc. The other day, my MIL stopped by and tried some of the pasta sauce that I was making. She was sweating bullets for what is considered run of the mill spicy for us. YMMV

I love the Habanero version but not really available North of the border.

On the list for my next shopping trip

I'm not particularly fond of pepper-flavored red vinegar.

I do like the taste of this stuff tho ..........

When I was a kid, any amount of spicy killed me. My parents would make a cheese dip with a very small amount of jalapeno in it and I thought it was horrible. My mother would make rum balls. I hated them. She even tried making them special with only 2 tsp of rum and they still tasted too strong. Kids seem to be more sensitive to taste than adults.

I don't mind the heat of tabasco, what I don't like is the flavor.

I have a bottle of sriracha that's been in storage for a few years... I'm not certain, but i think it has gotten tastier with age. The color is darker and the flavor is deeper than the fresh stuff I get in restaurants.
