Okay, so which one of you

Which one of you California poopyheads charged $879 on my MasterCard at disneyland last Wednesday?

Seriously, though... I filed a dispute; I've never had an errant or fraud charge before. Is there anything else I should do?

Yeah, just be glad they didn't buy a hamburger, soda and a pair of Mickey Mouse ears. Then the charge would have been over $1500.

Probably more of this crap than most of us realize. Bank shut down my debit card while I was in CO doing a job. Somebody in NY got my card number and tried to run it. I had no idea till I went to use it. This stuff can be hard to straighten out. Good luck!

I hate hearing about this stuff. Hope it works out OK.

I ditched my credit cards year ago. I draw cash for most thing now. Inconvenient but I figure it's safer.
All my bills are paid online and even that has me worried.

I get hacked about every 4-5 months on average. Its a pain... have to update all my auto-billing accounts with a new card every time. Have never had a problem with WaMu/Chase reimbursing me, though. They are very good. Thieves: GRRRRRRRRR

Seriously though., I had my Discover Business hacked for some groceries and Home Depot charges in Florida. When they called with the follow up investigation I asked how I could prevent it from happening in the future, they said they just run numbers till one hits not much you can do.

I was upset, I wanted retribution on those M'fers. Probably watched too many Charles Bronson films as a kid..

i had this happen recently. file a fraud alert with the credit reporting agencies (experian, etc.). you can do it online. that way, if they try to have a new card issued, or apply for other cards using your information, the bank will know immediately and contact you.

File a dispute and document, document, document. If you filed online with Mastercard, make sure that you save a pdf of EVERY page and form you encounter in the process. If you are speaking with them on the telephone, record EVERY conversation. You may not need this record, but it helps if you do.

This happens more often than you might think. And, your card being compromised may not been from dealing with a "shady" outfit. I have a NDA that expires in 5 months, I'll relay some stories then.

Ok, I admit, it was me, because of the impending melt down of our economy I have maxxed all of my credit cards, mortgaged everything to the hilt so when it comes I will not have to pay them back. I needed a break and wanted to take the family to Disneyland. I stopped at the Porsche dealer in New Port on the way but they wouldn't take the card for a new CaymanS.

gogar awhile back i posted my amex got jacked. it landed in w.virginia/maryland or some crap hole much to my surprise. especially since me and my tele tubby friends havent teleported out of the state in a while.

our suspicions lay at a certain moto-sickle shop here i bought parts at,as that was the last time i had used it.

but for drill i always use amex for out of state purchases via the puter as they are wayyyyyy betterer at credit card fraud and nipping it in the bud ASAP vs. visa.

It wasn't me. I get a discount at Disneyland, instead of it costing $879, it would have cost me $1.28.That is some serious charges even for Disneyland, unless you brought a family of four, in which case that would be about average, without a hotel room either.

The fraud watch company that monitors our debit cards is pretty amazing. They called my wife and asked if she charged something for just a few bucks. She said nope, and they closed the card. All she had to do was go to our credit union and they issued her a new card on the spot. We did not lose a penny. Just the frustration of going to the credit union and getting an new card. That only took 15 minutes.

Whenever I go on vacation I have two credit cards with me. In case one gets compromised I have a backup.

Cancel the account and have them open a new one.

Report it to the credit reporting agencies and have them put a fraud alert on your name. Basically, if anyone tries to open up an account in your name, they will call you to verify it is legitimate.

Likely excuse. Who says it wasn't you and 685 of your closest friends, hmmm?

Crooked Disney worker, maybe?

Threads like this make me realize how lucky I've been...so far!

Was the dispute resolved to your satisfaction? Huge number of consumer protection statutes in this area (see reg E, reg Z, etc). Other than that I would follow the advice above re: monitoring your credit etc.
