Dad went into the hospital think it was heart issues. The pressure on chest kind. After a week of tests, it turned out to be gall stone. Surgery was 3 days ago and very successful. He came home today. Also, he's beaten lung cancer. Cancer free eleven years. Way good enough stuff for me and my family. taking my wife and our boys off to Yellowstone this Friday but, there's a ton of design work and building work to be done for a client when I get back. I shouldn't complain, life is good enough so far.

I bought a new driver the other day. I haven't hit a decent drive in years. I typically tee off with a 3 wood or 3 iron. The very first round with this new hammer, I hit a 300 yard drive!! (oK, it was downhill and down wind, but still). I am booming it off the tee with a bit of a draw. I used to slice the hell out of it with my old driver.

Went back to work at the Tidal Power plant this week and was able to give a friend a contact that got him on staff too. He's happy because he will enjoy the work (heritage interpreter/tour guide) and I'm happy because having him there will make my life so much easier this summer.
What a rough job! Talking to interested folks about a neat piece of kit and the area you love.

Any Pelicans coming to Western Nova Scotia/Annapolis Valley do drop in!

While walking my dogs yesterday they flushed out a Killdeer. The bird went into its nest protection routine, flying low and hopping along the ground to lure them away from the next. My dogs totally took the bait. When they lost interest he started screeching and flopping on the ground like he was wounded. After he got their attention again, he went back to hopping and flying. When they were 100 yards from the nest he took off, flew a circle around us 50 feet in the air and chattered at us like we were fools. I wonder if birds can laugh? What a performance!

Hung out with my son, went to see Thor, hit the Barcade, ordered Chinese, talked about his pending fatherhood. 'twas all good.

Need to hear some more good stuff today. Mostly 'cause I am stoopid. You can even start a thread about how stoopid I am if you like.

Went shooting with my son. We shot a S&W model 66-2 in .38 special, 1911 with Kimber .22lr conversion, and Browning Hipower in 9mm. He is a very good shot, almost as good as I used to think I was years ago.

My mother-in-law spent the last 5 days in the hospital after getting bit by a stupid stray cat. It didn't look good for a while but she's back home now and it looks like she's gonna be fine. She's a great lady and helped raise our kids when they were younger, once again prayers answered.

After first of two days at Watkins Glen and I could not find my tow vehicle keys....90 minutes of searching, over both days finally revealed they were wedged behind and under the rear seat plastic trim. Saved me more drama I did not need. Sang all the way home.....Plus high on two good days at the track. Going to stash an extra in a secret spot, me thinks.

Going to drive to Portland this afternoon for a dinner with dear friend Ruki Unver...she's there for an oil spill conference.

Yep...I sold the old 911 to the right folks. If I'd sold to a "collector"? I'd have never seen him again, and by now the car would have been flipped at least twice.

My boss said I could start the holiday weekend early... just after lunch on Friday!

This has been a good week for me... My oldest daughter "graduated" from 5th grade this morning, and received the president's education award and class student/citizen (as voted by her peers). A nice surprise! My middle daughter's softball team (that I coached) came in 2nd in the county post-season tournament, and my youngest daughter (5/6 yr-olds, really fun to watch) is in the championship game tonight!
