New clear shower enclosure - what's the best method to prevent etching?

Can't seem to find a 100% sure way to prevent hard water etching on a new shower encosure. We have a water softener, but our last enclosure still looked terrible. Suggestions?

Arizona sucks for hard water...........gads, you can feel the chunks going down when you swallow................you should maybe move instead of worrying about water streaks on your door?

Even easier: After you wipe yourself, wipe the shower with the towel.

I've used RainX on residential windows and sliding doors. I think it has silicone and basically seals the pores in glass.
Seemed to make them slick for a little while and stayed clean(mabye a month or few).


For showers, countertops, and ceramics, I've used Gel Gloss with success. No more coffee rings on the laminate.
I think it's a sprayable cleaner wax, but may be too slippery for floors.
One drawback with this stuff is it smells like it has a petroleum dispursant, which could damage plastics. I haven't noticed anything so far. There may be better wax-type products out there.

We got 'hammered' glass in our shower enclosure mostly due to this, we're on a well and do filter and soften our water as well.
We also spray it down a couple times a week with a mineral-dissolving type cleaner.

Thanks for the suggestions. Water softener is a Kinetico that seems to do a good job.

Looks like we'll be using the Rain X + Squeegee approach, but I like the tear-off idea!

I'm REALLY bummed to find out that the new shower is LEAKING! Grrr... Tile guy swore it was very well sealed. Shower door guy was extremely detail oriented. My guess is that they'll each blame the other and neither is going to be in a hurry to get out here and try to fix it.

There are "restoration" products out there (Glass Renu, One Restore, Mr. Hardwater, Glastastic, etc.) that might be worth a shot if it is/gets really bad. I think the pros use those type of products along with 000 steel wool as "applicators".

Squeege works well... My mom uses one on the glass in her shower after every shower. Dad and I are afraid to shower in there, we might get it dirty.....

Yup, squeegee is a must for daily use. If you can, find one of the pro/industrial (super-wide) ones to cut down on the number of "passes" you have to make.

I laughed when I saw "designer" squeegees online for around $80. Really???
