if you deal 7 cards from a standard 52 card deck . . .

what are the odds they will be all red?

(how do you calculate it?)

Multiply and change odds each time

Assuming that you do indeed draw a red each time, the odds will be ...

(26/52)*(25/51)*(24/50)*(23/49)....

Edit/reply/addition to my first post...

If you are doing replacement - that is draw a card, record it, replace card in deck and re-shuffle, the odds are .5^7

If you flip a coin 9 times and it comes up heads each time what are the odds it will be heads on the 10th flip?

Since no one answered yet i'll try but a little rusty.

How many differnt seven card hands are in a deck of cards?

Use XL COMBIN which Returns the number of combinations for a given number of items. Use COMBIN to determine the total possible number of groups for a given number of items. COMBIN(52,7) = 133,784,560

How many differnt seven card hands are in the 26 red cards?
COMBIN(26,7) = 657800

divide those two and get .0049

That's the right answer. Id10t actually answered it in his post above. When you calculate it all out like he says, you get the same answer.

This was one of my kid's homework problem. We had the answer, just couldn't quite figure out how to get there!

If it is a brand new unshuffled deck, spades are on top.
