Plenary Power from the Air
Long the holy grail for USAF (IIRC, the idea -- or desire -- dates back to the US Army Air Corps) the ability to defeat an enemy solely from the air has gotten closer and closer over time.
I don't think we are there yet tho... http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/25/world/africa/25nato.html?_r=1&hpw&gwh=4D8EEC48A828AED19476BC88883B0773 From strategic bombing in WWII (Berlin, Dresden, Tokyo) to Drone attacks, we still cannot quite close the gap (w/o nukes). |

I bet the rebels on the ground would take offense to that ...............
Rag tag, ill-equippped and disorganized, but in the end it will be their boots on the ground that finishes this thing, with a great deal of from NATO air power. |

yes, it seems like ground troops (of some sort) have always been required
in Bosnia, the ground forces were not ours nor in the original Afghan conflict (except for USAF-SF, CIA, and Army SF) same thing in Libya Air power is slowly getting closer & closer, but... |

Plenary Air Power is an oxymoron, pedaled by the Air Force as a panacea for the weak kneed. It has been their intellectual viagra for decades, the sole reason they have hope in their little rope(s).
Their job is to help the Navy establish air superiority, then respond when called by the real men doing the fighting.

Paul,
I call fowl!!!! Plenary Power IS all it can be!!! Or should be??? Or would be??? Navy air power???? Pfshaw! ;-) (Actually I spent time as one of those Air Force pukes on the ground. Air Superiority wins wars but can lose battles. We need A-10s in large numbers to support Helos! Butts in boots win wars, air power provides suprior firepower that suppresses the other guys butts in boots.)

![]() No one brings it like the Air Force, no one...I have had occasions to stare in wide wonder at the stones you folks can drop from the sky. There is, as you and I know, the tipping point between air raid and human interaction, the boots, door to door, where victories are really won. How's the farm, my friend? Tractor update?

Yep, butts in boots actually wins wars, air superiority just makes it easier. But it is like going after a fly with a hammer. Something is going to get hurt.
Case IH Farmall 60 with FEL. I could not pass on the gurl, it was a 2010 that had been sitting for over a year. Case and the Dealer chipped in tonnes of money! Drove off with a 35% discount. More tractor than anyone else was offering for the price. I sent out over 80 requests for bids on tractors, reverse auction, with minimum specifications. There was a Deere 5550 I was given a price on. IF I could have swung the extra money we would have brought it home! It was a beauty! Too much rain, hay is past point where it should be harvested but it is just now dry enough to harvest. Don't know what we are going to do with that! Cows are going well. Horses are horses. Have about 3/4 mile of fencing completed, too many things keep getting in the way. Seems I have about another mile to put in now. Ducks sold out quickly. Chickens are not selling very well. I'm starting selling turkeys and guineas this weekend. Need to move about 80 chickens... We started supplying a local bakery with their eggs. Should start having turkey eggs again soon...

My Friend, I do feel sorry for you on the chicken front!!!
My neighbor has been waiting for the ground to dry enough to get the equipment in. I think he is planting today as I say a tractor. I also saw a nice herd of deer eating the fresh grass in his field last night when I was feeding. I'm hoping to sell for about $5.00 each this weekend! I have from $2.50 to $3.50 in each one not including my time. If I can get 80 gone I will be so VERY happy! Harvesting five this weekend for food for ourselves. We have found that not using medications gives healthier chickens for less money involved! Yep, the Case is nice. I had to move the old tractor last night. Fired right up (not touched in almost two months) and drove off with tonnes of power. Did not even slow down going up our hill. Ah well, the clutch is going and the PTO is full time on to the machine is unsafe. I just do not feel up to fixing it and cannot seem to sell it. Might be time to junk a perfectly good Perkins Diesel, French made, one of the good ones from 1970!
