Any Oracle Apps DBA's here?

I know I can go to this forum with any question. The knowledge here is boundless. That being said, are there any Oracle Apps DBA career coach types here?

Until being retooled as a functional EBS consultant 4 yrs ago, I was a career PeopleSoft implementation jockey (tech, functional, DBA, infrastructure, etc..). I am currently taking a hard look at a 11g OCA/OCB certification in an effort to transition to an Oracle Apps DBA career path. Is this the right way to go? Is the OCA/OCB cert. worth anything?

TIA. My current career coach cannot spell DBA.

PM me if you don't want to admit to being an ERP database nerd on the forum

I worked with Oracle databases for over 13 years until retiring at the end of 2008. I found my masters degree in software engineering gave me a much better ability to solve problems in a "big picture" type of manner. I also found that when working with any internet based solution that things worked better when the application was either written with Oracle Forms for example or something such as SAP which was written to take full advantage of all the nice things Oracle puts in their databases to make them run faster. As for the Oracle certs, I had the DBA cert in the early 2000's but never kept it up as it never seemed to matter.

The last company I worked for went under after new management came in and none of them understood how Oracle Application Server was developed or ran and they wanted to move from Oracle Forms (1900 or more) to JAVA and from Oracle RDBMS 10.x to Open Source and after a year of work by the programmers about 25 forms had been migrated and the customers all dropped the product since NONE trusted a database product that was free (you get what you pay for!).
