It's weird that there seems to be some sort of militant Amish on crack types at work in the CA govt. ....as if they want technology to cause problems for people, rather than allowing people to find technology soln's. That is, I really like my (energy saving) motion sensing (auto-ON/OFF) dimming lights. But forcing people to use such a ridiculous product (no auto ON)? ... Just so stupid. Who elects these people? ...or are they appointed?

Island, this is for new construction, remodel, window change-out only. They just don't show up at your house and demand the change.

![]() My point was (beyond the lunacy) that even if only for new construction the State is creating new law breakers. ...being that it is Such a poorly thought thru demand, few will follow.

Right. Many people just are not willing to put up with this kind of crap. I change it out at my house.

It is funny how differently things can be understood. When I looked at the OP, I was thinking hum Cali does have a lot of earthquakes and the big one is a concern but what is the good of having a motion sensor in the bath room? I guess you could make sure to wipe and pull your pants up before having to run out, if forewarned.
I know, twisted, but that is just me. |

Chris, I was doing a bit of that, but then I tried out some of the new LED lights. I ended up returning some because they totally blew, but then I found one that is really really good. As good or better than the incandescents I was hoarding in nearly all respects. Now I have incandescents that will probably last me 5 years or so, and I wish I hadn't bought them! I'm guessing the LED lights will be much better than they are now in a few years, and the ones that blow will be off the market. So I'd bet incandescent bulbs will not be a good investment.
