Moving to Columbus, OH; where to live?

We are being reassigned to Columbus, OH.

I have NO idea where to live. I have heard that Gahanna is a very nice place. Looking to rent as it's just a 2-year assignment. My appreciation for guidance up-front. Snapper |

stay away from the airport area. gahanna is nice. dublin is nice too. my ex bought her Ferrari 599 at MAG in dublin. the area by the easton mall has lots of nice apartments, food, and stuff like that.

if i recall, lots of nice, historic rental homes not too far from the university. i used to travel to port columbus ALL of the time for work, and taught classes at our MX hangar. the university area reminded me of my alma mater

Be sure to make it to Oxford, OH for the "Porsches to Oxford event" July 29-31, you'll love it. 500 cars will be there for the show on Saturday and it's a nice drive from Columbus. Porsches 2 Oxford

My wife (from Cols.) says Dublin, Upper Arlington, New Albany, Powell, Grandview. Stay away from near Easton - it is getting a little rougher. The older homes near downtown are either in artsy areas w/ lots of breakins or very expensive. Good luck.

Also with the four lane road extending east, it's worth driving out to look in Granville. It's about 28 miles out, but it is definitely a postcard town. Schools in granville would also most likely be a plus... if you care about things like that. I miss my Ohio days... |

Arlington is a nice neighborhood and has the best schools. German Village is quaint, but a little spendy. You might check it out.

I would add Westerville to your areas to look in as well.

Apart from P2O, the local PCA chapter is pretty active with at least one event each month. It is one of the many things I will miss after my move to Greensboro this weekend.

If I were to move back there, I'd pick Dublin, near the zoo (awesome) and tons of great golf courses. (If you're into golf) See the Memorial tournament at Muirfield when you're there. Also the reservior is close too, for water, hiking, kayaking etc.

			And don't forget about Mid-Ohio!

I grew up in Columbus (Grandview Heights). It all depends on what you want/like. Metro Columbus is a very nice place to live. If I were to move back I would likely buy a house in Grandview, Upper Arlington or Bexley, all older areas with beautiful older homes. But many people like newer, growing areas. If you do, check out Dublin, Hilliard, Powell, maybe Westerville. Someone mentioned Granville - VERY nice, quaint "New England" village (my son goes to college at Denison in Granville), but I think the home prices are quite high. German Village is also pretty nice & quite unique, but also expensive.

I lived in Westerville during college. Nice place. Rented a 4 bedroom house with a porch on the front and back. The house was around 100 years old. Pretty nice. I've also lived in Canal Winchester....southeast Columbus. Everyone above seems to have good advice. Good luck.
