I've been to the Oliver Inn & Bed a Breakfast and the historic district. Also the Studebaker museum. South Bend was a booming industrial area 100 years ago and some of the opulence of those days has been preserved in the historic district. The Studebaker museum is small but nicely done.

IIRC from my time on 356talk there is a large contingent of 356s in the area and I think there are monthly or twice monthly gatherings... check the forums on 356registry.org

We like to burn ants with a magnifying glass
When you coming? Tire Rack headquarters is in town, almost every weekend there is autocross at their test track. I run the events for the local PCA. Next weekend is one of our events. Gingerman Raceway is an hour away - usually someone running on weekend. National level karting facility in town if there is an event it's fun to watch....you can even arrange to drive in an "arrive and drive" class using their rentals. Lake Michigan and some really good beaches and dunes are 1/2 hour. Downtown Chicago 1&1/2 hour. Let me know if I can hook you up with any of the motorsports stuff...or if you want to come over and burn some ants. I have an extra magnifying glass but you will have to bring your own beer ![]() Don

Normy,
One of the best air museums the country is in Kalamazoo by the airport. The kalamazoo air zoo. There is a good casino,Four Winds, at exit 1 on I 94. Good beaches in St JO, mi. Gingerman raceway is about 45 min north in South Haven. Of course you can check out Norte Dame and touchdown jesus. Also many winery tours Last edited by romad; 06-09-2011 at 05:47 PM.. |

I've only been in the area for a few years - the track I was referring to is Michiana Raceway Park. Been trying to get my kids into karting. Other sports are getting in the way for now.

Screw the Irish thing just rent "Rudy", go to the Studebaker Nation Museum Studebaker National Museum - Official Website and see what a real car looked like. I bought my 1946 Studebaker Champion for $17.50 at the local scrape metal yard and drove it for 30,000 miles. Used a brush to paint it primer grey. Didn't need a speedometer because I could see the ground through the rusted out floorboards.
