Why isn't the DOJ investigating this? Neighbors afraid of police retribution, ja wohl.

Here is what a resounding victory in the War on Drugs looks like: A drug kingpin (such as Pablo Escobar) is assasinated. This destabilizes the drug supply chain. A power struggle ensues. Many more people die. In the meantime, the supply of drugs is temporarily disturbed. The supply curve shifts to the right, raising prices. Someone else steps in to take over the turf Escobar vacated. Supply is restored. Price remains at the higher level and overall profits are elevated. Demand continued, uninterrupted, throughout.

Shame? You bet. Very much.

It isn't difficult to understand why some would suspect a cover-up, or at least an attempt to suppress details until the department can come up with a narrative that mitigates the damage. In any case, it's awfully audacious for a police agency to scold the media for not trusting them and for "spreading misinformation" just days after revealing they themselves released bad information.
I have to agree with the author's conclusions.

From the link: "The problem with that explanation is that the search warrants and affidavits weren't sealed until four days after the raids were executed"
Actually, the Supreme Justices recently ruled that warrents were no longer needed with pot busts: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-politics-religion/609975-supreme-court-no-more-search-warrent-needed.html

If Marijuanna was legalized at a national level, legislated as alcohol and tobacco, this would have been a minor taxation issue. Not a human death.

Lots of over-reach in this "war."

The most notorious case in So Cal: 32 LE officers descend on the home of a 61-year-old man recovering from cataract surgery. Land seizure motives are suspected...

Absolutely nauseating. That it happened on that d-bag Dupnik's watch is no surprise.

I am not defending the cops and I am not denying that we are becoming a police state, etc. But I don't see much in the way of facts regarding the dead guy's "innocence." Did I miss something?

Your not seeing much in the way of facts regarding the dead guys "guilt".

Last time I checked the burden of proof was not on the "accused".

Other than the article stating that the police spokesman said that the officers found what they expected and that what they found wouldn't merit an arrest: "Storie himself acknowledged in the Daily Star that had the SWAT team entered Guerena's home peacefully, they wouldn't have made an arrest.

And when you "put it together," to borrow his own terminology, Storie's comments thus far lead to a pretty astonishing conclusion: After violently breaking into Guerena's home, the police found exactly the evidence they were looking for -- yet none of that evidence merited an arrest." Quoted from the article.

They should have legalized that sh it years ago. Of course DEA and a lot of other bureaucrats feel differently. They make a living creating criminals out of pot smokers.

Another disappointing aspect of this is that he didn't take any of those tactical-wanna-bes with him.

Odd, isn't it, that a Marine who has been trained to kill has more self-control than a bunch of jackbooted thugs whose job is "to protect and serve".

Actually not odd considering his training and 2 tours, read combat experience.

Tragically ironic though.

Do you realize the sheer economic impact that would have? Thousands of cops, prison guards, "agents" etc suddenly out of a job?
