Any: In ear ipod headphone recommendation ?
I need a decent set of headphones now that my old pair broke.
I don't want to spend more than $50. These will only be used for my ipod. I don't want the over the head style. Any suggestions. I see such a wide range of options at my local electronic store. I've never tried a set of the earbud style, are they more comfortable or in any way better than traditional in ear style? Thanks ![]()

Ink'd SC Black/Black
I've been using these for a while now, and can't believe the difference in sound quality. They're comfortable, even after an 8 hour shift.

The only ear buds I can stand putting in are the ones that came with my XM radio

Amazon.com: Skullcandy INK'd Earbuds S2INCZ-034 (Black/Red): Electronics
I bought a pair of these awhile ago and I love them. Very comfortable and good sound quality. Nothing can beat it in that price range. |

Another vote for Skullcandy. I found myself at the airport about to board a long flight and realized I had left my regular set of cheap earbuds in the car. For some reason I splurged (for me anyway) and dropped $40 on a set of Titans. They sound great. Night and day difference from the $15 cheapo's. The different sized silicon tips means I can get them to fit comfortable without undue pressure in my ears.

I went for the cheaper Skullcandy at the airport. They have the rubber noise "isolating" bits. They sound fine and are cheap enough that if you break/lose them you won't freak out. I don't think there is much difference in ear buds until you start paying real money...like over $75.

I bought a pair of Klipsh buds at Best Buy, paid about 50 bucks. These have nicely balanced sound - actual high-fidelity, something you don't hear much about any more. Sound way better than the buds that came with my iPod, which themselves aren't too bad. And they're sort of noise-isolating, and come with three different sizes of snap-on ends so that you can find comfort and good fit. I suspect you can find some reviews of them on the Internets....

+1 on the Klipsch S4s. They do go way inside the ear, which can be a bit strange, but overall they sound great. Never figured you could get serious bass from earbuds, but Klipsch pulls it off.

Sennheiser. You cannot go wrong even with the basic bottom of the range Senheiser like the CX270. In the UK I think I got mine for under £20 though they are normally mid-£20s, so say around $30+. They come with 3 sizes of rubber "collar" to fit different ear sizes comfortably.
The big plus IMHO of ear buds is that they passively cut back on a decent amount of noise but let you hear enough that you are not a complete walking zombie in a busy city. I also don't want to look like some music geek with a huge pair of headphones on my head, but thats just me. ![]() Edit - forgot to mention the sound. Its like a different universe compared to the std ipod POS headphones. I prefer the cheap Sennheisers to the £60 Sony noise cancellers that I bought for flying. I would look at the Westone line. A bit more $'s than $50. I bought the UM1 for a cross country motorcycle trip. Had the Ipod on during the long interstate stretches and turned it off and just used the headphones as noise reduction the rest of the time. They worked great and come with several styles of ear pieces.

I have a pair of Phillips in-ear buds. They are better than the standard iPod headsets, and only around $20.00. Won't deliver sounds quality like the high-end stuff, but it is a good compromise.
