RC model boat with OPS 15 cc engine: $75?
I don't have a picture. I went running this evening, and gasping for breath in Fort Lauderdale's 90 degree heat, along my normal running rout I stopped at this thrift shop known as "Out of the closet".
Folks, if you shop in thrift stores, then this is Abercrombie and Fitch! This place has it going on, and you can fill your wardrobe for less than $100. I have- 90% of my clothes come from thrift stores [proud to say it!], and the few others are Hollister jeans that I buy from Hollister itself. Those jeans are killer~ Anyway, I found this 28 inch long RC boat for sale for $75. It had dual fuel tanks, an OPS 15 cc engine, and it was in good shape. There was an RC system with it, with a single-stick control, and all parts appeared to be there. The sticker stated "Not tested". The front right pylon was damaged, and covered with duct tape. The engine is stuck- I tried to turn it with my hands, but it won't turn, so the engine is seized. Again, it is an OPS 15cc, or .90 glow engine. Question: Is it worth $75 with a stuck OPS engine? [paging IMPBA experts....] N! |

Forget about the boat. Tell me more about the jeans. Do they make your azz look fat? Sorry bud, I couldn't resist.

Did the engine have the glow plug installed? I had a 55" Scarab with a .90 Rossi engine; the compression was so high I couldn't turn the motor by hand with out first loosening the plug. I would not spend $75 if the motor was gone. The hull alone isn't worth it if it needs a lot of work. If you can rebuild the motor and repair the hull then maybe. The radio is worthless unless you collect classics.

I'd probably grab it if it were me. offer 50 bucks. bet they take it
Its probably only 2 channel so it would be EASY to work on as stated above the radio gear is probably worthless . A stuck glow engine is no big deal ...easy to tear down and crank bearings are cheap. I just put a set of crank bearings in a frozen thunder tiger 46. I think they cost me 20 bucks or less. I'd bet the piston, rod, sleeve and crank are just fine. People are bad about not using after run oil and they freeze after sitting a while. I have an RC boat over 4 ft long with a 33 CC 2 stroke in it...cool to play with |
