C&C Irvine yesterday

Didn't take much of Porsche but there were some interesting cars there.

That Boxer looks delicious...so nice to see one without the original spec. ride height.
(Of course the Daytona is just as nice....but that goes without saying)

You can bet on it, but why?

I got there at 6 and it was already there, the guy sitting in it was talking about driving it, the speed, the braking, he talked like he had used it.

from a couple weeks ago, the guy didn't have any plates and the Irvine cop made him pull out registration/paper work. Like you are going to bring a hot car there and show it off.

That GT2RS looks like a GMG Racing car. They bring some of the best cars. The driver showing the paperwork has had a few race cars driven out there.

I did see a 917 and a 906 drive in and out a couple years ago. Got to say the license plate did look funny on the back of the 917.
Thanks for sharing the pics, lots of exotica there!!

Cheers Richard
I'm hopen you guys aren't tired of seeing these old shots

The 906 took off out of there like it was going into warp speed. The 917 had to idle away in first, as a cop pulled up to the exit just as it was leaving. Big disappointment, lots of folks were hanging out at the exit to watch it pull out.

I believe that's John Marconi in that Ferrari F1 car.
He's the son of Dick Marconi who founded the marconi brothers museum in Tustin (Santa Ana), a non-profit charitable organization for kids.
Maybe they brought out that car to generate more interest in the museum, maybe they just thought it was so cool they had to share.

The livery on that car in your picture is a little different than the one they have on their museum website, maybe the same car, maybe not. Lot's O'money in OC, I guess it's possible there are two ferrari f1 cars around.
Here's what their website says about it:
Quote:
Description: The Marconi Automotive Museum is proud to be one of the few, if any, owners in America with a modern Formula 1 car with a working engine. This car is also the very car that Michael Schumacher drove the first year he raced for Ferrari.
http://www.marconimuseum.org/default.asp?contentID=1

John has his own shop and did all the suspension and brake work on a 71 chevelle that is owned by the guy I bought my 911 from.
John took all factory GM bolt-on parts and make that old muscle car handle and stop as well as almost any corvette.

Sam, the one pic'd here above may be from 2001.

Here is the Schumacher debut Tipo from '96:

These things take a lot of support equipment to fire up.

I believe you're right on Milt. here's the pic from their museum, looks identical to the one you posted (minus the head rest padding thingy).

Sooooooo, evidently there is more than one modern Ferrari F1 car floating around the area and that one in the original post is not the one from the Marconi museum.

Geez, these things are getting so common that it seems everyone has one!

I've seen one at Fontana when they had the historics. 2 days trying and they never got it started. I don't remember the car well enough to pin point it.

It was red.

I did some more digging, it looks like the 2001 livery was partially sponsored by vodaphone, the 2000 carried fed-ex adverts on the front wing instead:

Yep, the car at the Marconi museum is chassis number 170, the one pictured in the original post was chassis 213, owned by Dr. Anthony Nobles (Tony). And yes, the lucky bastage has driven it! I wonder if he'll adopt me?

Quote:
F1-2001 owner, Californian Tony Nobles, was one of the lucky few to negotiate the challenging Tremblant track in a modern Ferrari F1 car. He has a background in Historic racing, something he’s been involved in for some twenty years. He was one of the first F1 Corse Clienti clients, taking delivery of his mount at Mugello. And, as mentioned earlier, had no-one less than the Meister Michael Schumacher give him advice and a pep talk before going off on his recognizance laps in his new racer.

The Ferrari Festival was Tony’s first-ever experience at Tremblant so he had quite the steep learning curve. However, with the telemetry available and the helpful advice of team engineer Andrea
Galletti, he was able to improve with every lap. It’s a track he truly enjoyed, especially Turn 1 where the track goes up from the start straight and then dips down into a right-hander at Turn 2.

No, that's reserved for moost-tang owners
j/k

Seriously, if you had that car and had driven it on a real race track, with schumi teaching you the ropes and a factory ferrari race engineer setting it up, wouldn't you want to SHARE that? I know I would.

BTW, aint the inter-webs wonderful? so much info available so easily, and all ya gotta do is not get bored. Maybe that's why they added prOn.
