They're trying to kill the NFL

Booth review after every single scoring play. Stupid. Just stupid.

I am glad I have never watched a single game of football. Well, I thought I did, but it turns out it was just a scene in Forrest Gump

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I think the high incidence of attention deficit disorder come from watching too much baseball and football; 5 seconds of action followed by 5 minutes of standing around scratching their nuts and talking about how great it was.

Professional team sports are nothing more than entertainment - the opiate of the idle-minded masses. This is simply a way to help legitimize it and if it has the unintended consequence of getting them into the news media, hey, "no publicity is bad publicity" right?

I used to follow this stuff but no more - it's all just a time-wasting joke. Millionaires bickering with billionaires over nickels and dimes... Ridiculous.

Then those same people dare to call soccer "boring".

Hmmm...90 minutes of action in 90 minutes of time, or 11 minutes of action in 2.5 hours. Which is boring again?

somebody once pointed out to me, that actual playing time of a football game, from when the hike the ball, to when the receiver is "down" is only 8-12 minutes per game, all at 5-10 play seconds at a time.

Soccer / Hockey Rocks, Football/Baseball might as well get a buzz from sniffing the glue or paint while it dries.

I have to wonder, how many of the football haters here have played the sport competitively?
The thing that makes pro football great is simple: they are the fastest, strongest, most athletically gifted football players in the world.
I believe if you've BTDT you can appreciate those exemplary skills all the more.

Kind of like watching golf. if you've never played golf at a decent level, it would be very difficult to appreciate the shots they make. But if you've actually worked hard ot make shots like that and couldn't, you're more likely to appreciate just how hard it is and how special what they are doing is.

That extremism is at the heart of it.
I like college football too but it's amateur hour when compared to the pros.

Steve Young put it this way in a recent interview:
in college, everyone is open. In the pros, no one is open.

IMO what is killing pro football is the low-life low-class antics. The stoopid dancing in the end zone, the showboating, the clueless acting out, the attention whoring.
A guy makes a sack and jumps around like a fool as if he just found a cure for cancer, but all he did was exactly what he was getting paid millions of dollars to do and waht was expected of him.

How many of us jump around like low-life idjuts every time we do our job at work?
WHOOO HOO, I sent an e-mail.
Look at me, look at me, I made a desision. BAA!
And how many times are these low-lifes going to get in trouble with the law?
On a local news radio station they have a daily feature on the sports report called "THE ATHLETE ARREST OF THE DAY!"
He could change it to the "athlete arrest of the hour" and only have to cover the cincinnati bengals.

That's what is ruining the game.
I don't care if it is a "cultural thing". Get rid of it and bring back some class to the game.
The team owners need to be more selective in who they sign.

Free market - the team owners sign whomever they think will net the highest ticket, parking, jersey and beer sales. Or are you saying that considerations other than profit motive be mandated (*gasp!*).

The whole thing is of little interest to me anymore. Football, baseball, basketball... They're all fun to play but in a professional arena they become ridiculous.

I'm surprised it took this long to go that direction. How do you say, "More time for commercials"? Many moons ago I had season tickets for the Niners, but gave them up. A couple of years ago, a friend gave me tickets for a game. I couldn't believe the number of times the game stopped for a commercial. Sitting at home with DVR and FF, I hadn't noticed the change.

College football pulls it off, the NFL could learn from college about quick review.

I'm one that wastes way too much time watching football, not sure why really.
