Injuries that will leave you in a puddle of tears

Never mind. I decided the pic I attached was too graphic. Carry on.

No pictures......but ripping my little finger off would have to be at the top of the list.

I've been lucky. The worst I've had is from a hard landing while parachuting. I banged up my arm and shoulder... It was painful for weeks and I still have some stiffness 20 years later.

Blew out my big toenail so bad last time it didn't even hurt. Dropped a 911 battery on it from chest high, direct hit to bare toe. Hit so hard it shot blood out from under the nail a few feet. Pretty cool. Aside from the initial pain that was it. The next morning I couldn't feel a thing. Y'know how a blown nail builds up blood underneath, and the pressure is what hurts? This was blown so bad the blood and gore just oozed out. A few days later you could stick a dinner knife down between the nail and toe, and not hit anything. Damn thing finally fell off a few months later.

OK worst pain. Dislocating my shoulder really sucked. Intense dizzying pain... But I finished most of the ski trip.

Breaking my leg in three places. Also good times. I passed on the narcotic painkillers and slept for days. When I could sit up I was so sensitive to my leg being bumped I would involuntarily bare my teeth like a mad dog when anyone came near me. My dog was totally weirded out.

Getting stabbed in the back, that's worse than all of them.

Not an injury but my kidney stone episode was memorable. Until the hospital shot me with quality drugs I thought my guts were being ripped from my body.

Second on the pain list was my sciatic nerve. After about 4 days of no sleep and constant pain I found that 1/2 litre of vodka combined with 4 Vicodin, a handful of ibuprofen, and a hot bath finally got the relief I needed. Sucked to be me in the morning though.

I have broken my leg, forearm, and shoulder (2x). All were non-events compared to those I outlined prior.

Worst pain in the world is quite possibly the 2nd and 3rd degree burns to my hand. Nothing like when all the nerves wake up again and are all pissed off. 3 tranquilizers and a bunch of morphine and I still was in extreme pain. Something I never wish on anyone and something I never want to happen again to me.

Yes, I was crying big time.

Some injuries you recover from, others you adapt to.

You love this then... When I was in the Army 20 years ago "I heard a story".

The Army and the Navy were having a Rugby game. During that game there was a desperate tackle and recovery by the Navy from a "scrum" in mid field. The Navy scored but...

One of the Army players partially dislocated his left hip during the scrum and his left testicle had somehow found it's way into the hip socket and then the hip had snapped back into place.
As it turned out only about 30% of his testicle actually got trapped in the joint.

He ended up loosing that testicle.

This thread reminds me of the thing that used to make the rounds before the internet called "Scrotum Self Repair"...

My wife took a field hockey ball onto left index finger whilst holding the stick smashed into about 8 pieces.

She always used to think it odd that sports people with broken fingers didn't just strap it up and get on with the game - this changed her mind.

I don't consider myself squeamish, but on the way to the hospital with my hand in a bag of ice, as I was having trouble determining which was my index and which my middle finger, my legs started shaking and I realized I was going into shock. So I quit looking and focused on breathing, and it cleared up. But for a couple of weeks, every time I closed my eyes, I heard the noise and saw the image.

The injury hurt, but that pain didn't compare to the repair. Wish I had the x-rays to share.

the event was more visual then painful..
went into shock almost immediately...
recovering in the toast ward for a year was very painful..
they can only give you so much morphine..
there was more than one night I cried myself to sleep...
thankfully the mind lets you forget..
