The US coast guard goes all over the world guarding many coasts. Not just ours.
They are very active in the Persian gulf for instance.
If the US navy boards a ship owned by a foregn government, it could be interpreted as an act of war.
But our coast guard can patrol international waters and enforce international law, inspecting foreign ships without as much backlash.

And if they can keep $180 million worth of coke out of the noses of a bunch of American low-lifes looking for an excuse to be dependent on the gubmint, I'm all for it.

If drug cartels will flush that much coke,by making thier vessels easy to sink, think of how much must be getting through.
I would like to see the bill for mounting an underwater drug interdiction.
Now that they have all that marching dust, they're going to destroy it right?
Wow that was expensive

Semi-quote: A 1 million dollar vessel to transport 54 million dollars in product. An investment any legitimate business would make.

Hard to beat.

Wow, maybe Eric Holder should give it to the ATF to sell back to the Cartels. At least they could use it to help pay down some of the deficit...

SO much better to have all those $billions in the hands of Columbian drug lords than legitimate business. I just know the War on Drugs is working. People will stop buying cocaine any day now. I can feel it!

What about the hard charging money making high lifes that want to enjoy fine scotches, raw steaks, strippers and good blow before going back for another 70+ hour week.

Even the low life should be free to do as they feel with no government invovlement what- so- ever

I was sailing up to Vancouver from Mexico a couple of years ago in a 43' ketch-middle of the afternoon, I am alone on deck and I see a black post off the port beam, we were in 12,000 feet of water, as we come abeam of it I realise there is an aperture just down from the top of said "post". We had been motor sailing and I guess the sub picked up our engine noise. Last year, sailing up from Hawaii, in the middle of the n.Pacific a warship suddenly appears on the horizon and passes close astern.

That's a fantasy. It's never worked. Not for any drug. Not anywhere in the world. EVER. Interdiction just raises prices. Drug seizures are factored into the price.

I'm always confounded by "conservatives" who want our government to control private behavior. Just ridiculous.
