BEE swarm.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other than off'en 'em is there any thoughts how to convince them to leave?

They're in a cinder block wall. There's a pair of 3/8" holes that's missing bolts to hold a extension that's missing.

There's another 2" diameter hole 3 rows down. I've put burning newspaper in but it hasn't sent them away

As your county agent for a list of beekeepers. One near you may want them, if it's a recent swarm.

Caulk the holes?

I had some nasty bees build a home in my house in Costa Rica, I had to kill them, all of them, used the same stuff we used on coackroaches, ants, spiders and leftists, stuff called BayGon. Got some on my arm as I was spraying into the hole, blistered it and looked bad, but killed the bees. Otherwise they weren't leaving.

I used to tape or wire a vacuum beside their entrance. Suck 'em up the tube then put the vacuum on the car muffler and let it idle for 10 minutes.

Then dump the carcasses in the trash. Done.

My Dad solved the problem by getting small shot and a pistol - hit 'em when they are going in the hole.

Sadly, I believe Baygon has been removed from available use in the USA...

Boric acid powder sprayed into the holes should work.

Smoke makes them leave the hive, that is why beekepers use it. If you could put some flaming newspaper in there, then close the entry way somehow- put a rock over it maybe?

Smoke sedates them. Doesn't make them leave. Gives the bee keeper time to get the queen out without being swarmed. Also gives them time to inspect the hive..

It's kind of silly and backwards to just kill them off- Unless they are hornets etc.

If honeybees then let a bee keeper/ bee person remove them for free as someone else mentioned.

I have run into this scenario a few times over the years and never had a problem getting someone to come pick them up free of charge.

Had a swarm once. It was picked up free of charge. FYI - If you spray them with chemicals first then the beekeepers don't want them.

Beekeepers are only interested if they're honey bees. Do you know if that's what you have?

You could have carpenter bees. Or hornets. Or maybe something else.

Can you post a photo?
