A GF in high school had a brother who was a star athlete, total jock, strong as an ox. His WWII vet grandfather bought him a car and, due to NJ's insane insurance, kept it in his own name, which got the jock a handicapped tag and he used it. |

Anyhow, I don't key cars, but I can understand. Never give anyone a reason. rjp |
I agree, never give them a reason.
When I'm in one of my P cars, I park far away from the crowd (I don't mind the walk even in the rain) and always between the lines. |
|
The only time my vehicle got keyed. Was at a hospital parking lot. In the farthest part of the lot. I parked my truck ( not jacked up, but bigger than the compact that most spots seemed aimed at) in the only open spot I could find. And the spot was crowded by the car in the next spot. So I squeezed in close to or on the line.
Well. Someone took offence and keyed the down the whole length of the truck. WTF I guess I could have driven a couple blocks and parked in a nearby Walmart lot. And walked back. But did'nt want to miss visiting hours. Oh well I knew it was tight when I squeezed in there. So I guess I was setting myself up for it. Was more concerned about my friend I was going to visit. Guess s--t happens Cheers Richard |

The quick Post Office stop douchebag.
Apparently she pulled in from the road and parked it right there. Partly in the pathway, partly in the handicapped spot, partly on the sidewalk.... It was not just a "quick in-and-out" visit. She was inside checking her PO box when I arrived, and still there when I left. Not that those are not 'handicapped' tags on the truck, and there is not a temporary permit hanging on the rear view mirror. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1419006837.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1419006857.jpg |
About 12-13 years ago I was the store near my old house when a big gust of wind ripped the door of my truck out of my hand and right into the side of a brand new Lexus. I was pissed at myself for letting that happen. I sat there for 20-30 min waiting for the people to come out. They never did so I left a note with my phone number and told them to call me and I take care of it. The guy calls and is super nice. I explain what happened said I was sorry about million times. He told me not to worry about its just one of a bunch of dings the car will get over the years and probably the only note he'll get for them.

Some people truly are unaware and/or so self-absorbed they have no empathy for their rudeness.
On the road, all that is left to us is to use the horn (or Road Warrior front bumper) to alert someone of their hazardous or bonehead move. Stationary, as in a public lot, unless they're aware of their boorishness, some might only be aware by 1) leaving a note and/or 2) leaving evidence of someone's anger. Fake fecal matter on the windshield might be over the top, but a well-place 16p nail is pretty effective if not subversive. I understand how some might want to vent their anger on the perp's vehicle, but a "Dear A** H***" note (downloadable from page X in this thread) might provide some temporary relief, and is suggested if only for one's karma. Bill's face-to-face scenario is noteworthy if true :) . It can make people more aware and even mimic responsibility (nice concept). At worse, the interaction can also remind us there's a small minority of unrepentent zombies in our communities. Sherwood |
parking like a douche is one thing-
Parking normally and being whacked for having a nice car is another. Gloves come off for the latter.... rjp |

We used to joke that "it looked like JC Whitney threw up on it" when we saw a vehicle with all the trimmings.
To each their own, I suppose. I don't want to MORE stuff to have to keep clean. |
At Buck Owens' Crystal Palace tonight. In a full parking lot, too.

I know it's only a little bit over the line, but it's enough that I saw half-dozen people pass up the spot. They are probably afraid he cannot back out of the spot any better than he pulled into it. |
This guy use to drive professionally and now he needs three spots.

I would park in the spot on the left in the picture and not pull in all the way.

always good to have a big piece of large caliber bubble wrap on hand...... roll up and place behind a wheel so when they (the malefactor) back up, the resulting sound will make them poop their pants.

Or a bb in the valve stem cap.
