I whipped out my phone to take a picture of a pickup that was parking right in the middle of four spots a local Braum's store. The driver was coming out to get in the truck and asked why I was taking pictures. I told him there is web site for "people that park like a d'bag and I was going to post his truck on it" He was pissed and blazed out of there. I forgot to post the pictures and deleted them later but he does not know that.

I have been contemplating creating a FB called D'Bag Drivers, just to post pix of this type of parking, people tossing their cigarette butts out trash, ect. Maybe a bit of public humiliation will get them to clean up their acts. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426526433.jpg

In the early days of the Internet, there was a guy commuting from Santa Cruz to Silicon Valley who took and uploaded pictures of "dick moves" on Highway 17. It was pretty classic. You'll be amazed to know the BMW drivers dominated.

Since Techweenie sort of sequed to sociological evidence for dirt-bagness (okay I made the leap), there was a recent UCBerkeley study on the behavior of those with and without wealth, in both real and in role-playing experiments.

Exploring the Psychology of Wealth, 'Pernicious' Effects of Economic Inequality

One of the 7 studies was to observe the brands of vehicles that would yield to pedestrians waiting at a crosswalk. You might hazard a guess as to the types of cars that blew past the potential street crosser.

It might be interesting to actually calculate, based on this random and anecdotal thread, the percentage of high end vehicles pictured in douchbag parking lot poses.

The exceptions, of course, are those owners who post on this thread. :)

First, it was just the Kia, then the guy in the Golf parked without even looking at the lines. Probably just assumed the Kia wa parked correctly. Both douchebags I my book.

Sorry. I mistakenly used those terms interchangeably. I suppose there is a definitive difference.

I'm liberal enough to give a tentative pass to potential douchbags who park that way in empty lots.

In the TV series, "The Last Man on Earth", the lead character hooks up with a neurotic woman (the last one) who, among other things, insists they obey stop signs and not park in handicapped spaces.

I like the motorcycle littering video. Littering is a huge pet peeve of mine. Pretty much the epitome of lazy and worthless.

I had to park my Superduty F250 4x4 just like that last Sunday when I went to Chipotle resturant. There were 10 empty spaces out in front of the building, but I chose to stay out of the tight spots and angled into a straight spot on the side of the building where not many people go. I actually thought of this thread as I was doing it.....what a douche bag !

I just found the location of the group W bench.

Truck is parked there, like that, most days.
64th and Indiana King Soopers.

Caught a trifecta at Ralph's tonight. Two in the fore ground at an angle and one in the back ground doing the same thing. I guess someone thinks they're a trend setter.

With the exception of the possible non-permitted handicap plaque, I see no issue with taking away someone elses parking space. If given the opportunity, I would do that regularly to increase the buffer zone next to mine.

widgeon13 03-30-2015 10:37 AM

Well, why have lines then?

I'm going to assume the driver wanted more room for their passenger to exit the car. It's a handicapped space..... for the handicapped. Otherwise, I see no harm in not staying parallel within the painted lines as long as it's not inconveniencing anyone else. As the owner of the car next to his, I would appreciate that move as well. More buffer space between doors is good with me.

I suspect they've seen, at this particular place (and/or others like it), someone park in the non-spot, limiting their ability to utilize the handicapped parking place. Looks to me as though they were simply preempting that eventuality, something I'm okay with, assuming they have a handicapped plate and are themselves disabled.

Noah930 04-01-2015 08:11 PM

Mini-rant, but I suppose this is the place to vent. Rode the moto to work today. In our parking garage, our surgery center has 4 spots (tandem 2x2) next to the surgery center exit. It's so families can pick up their loved ones. The spots are marked for the surgery center.

I rode the moto, so I parked the bike tucked between two spots in the back, to allow for others in our office and for patients' families to pick up their post-operative loved ones. After a 12-hour day and as the last one to leave the office, I came out to find my bike blocked in by two cars. Granted it was after 5 pm, but the spaces are marked for the surgery center and again, my bike had no way to exit.

WTF is wrong with people? Even if they thought it was after hours so they could do whatever the fk they wanted, why park to block someone else in? And they parked far out enough in the tandem spots to prevent me from scooching around them due to large concrete pillars. So they parked so THEY weren't blocked in, but they also parked to block ME in?!

I was able to squeeze out a spot over between another car and a concrete pillar, but left them notes as to their selfishness and that next time they'd be towed (as per the sign on the wall in front of where they parked).

Aiding and abetting douchery. Tow them or do nothing...they probably threw the note on the ground.

Hmmm. The Hummer owner must think he's handicapped by just owning one. However, it's not official and it's still unacceptable. Someone should have used his winch to hang it from the nearest tree.
